Big Ten tournament tickets

Submitted by Wendyk5 on

I'm sure this gets asked every year, but could someone please shed some light on getting tickets to the tournament. I checked StubHub and there are tickets available, but I don't know if I want to buy single day tickets now, not knowing if we're going to be playing that day. If you go to Indianapolis, can you find tickets the day of? I figure we'll get a bye on Thursday, and either I'll go down for Friday, or Friday and Saturday.

My Dad and I went to the BTT last year (in Chicago) and are going again this year to Indy, and although we already planned on staying all four days no matter what Michigan did, there are definitley opportunities to buy tickets the day of the FRI, SAT, SUN games. Sometimes when a fan's team loses, they will put their tickets on the market or even sell them outside the arena immediately after the game.

My Question is does anybody know what section number the Michigan crowd will be in this year?

The Ticketmaster page shows (generally) where each school sits.

To save you the need for clicking through, it looks like we will have sections 1, 201, and 202.  Additionally, I would expect that we will probably have pieces or all of 2, 203, and 204.

I just received my tickets in the mail for section 1 last night.  Behind the basket... yuck.

People standing outside the building selling tickets, usually pretty cheap. When going to Indy though head to Broad Ripple (Butler's bar scene) afterwards, you won't regret it

Honest question...what's the point of these conference tournaments? Has any team in a major conference got an automatic bid for winning one that wasn't already a lock to make the NCAA tournament?

i've been burned two years in a row.  two years ago we drove from chi to indy for the saturday games, hoping to scalp.  there were literally no tickets to be found.  no scalpers anywhere either.  and we showed up plenty early.

last year we went to UMs thur session at the united center just fine.  but again on friday there were no reasonable tickets to be found.  the prices were outrageous from scalpers.  this wasn't the case in years past.  so unless you have a ticket in advance or buy from a losing team as they leave the arena, be wary.

I also went in 2012 and was completely shut out on Saturday tickets for both the MSU and Michigan games (went with my Sparty ex-gf).  Scalper prices were absolutely outrageous so we spent the day watching the games at the designated bar for each school.

Oh and the Michigan bar (don't remember the name) was crawling with Buckeyes, so that was awesome.  By halftime I was hammered so we went back to the hotel where I could yell at the TV without making a scene.

I want to go this year but am again wary of driving to Indy only to watch a Michigan game at the bar.
