What will be the conference record of the Big Ten champ/champs this year? Unfortunately MSU now officially controls own destiny.
Record of previous champs
2011-12 Michigan 13-5.
Michigan State 13-5
Ohio state. 13-5
2012-13 Indiana 14-4
I think either 15-3 or 14-4, I just don't see many more losses ahead for MSU. We really need Wisconsin to show up at home tomorrow.
4 losses maximum. I'm not sure MSU loses 3 more.
Last trip to Iowa City (2011-12): 16 point loss
Today: 18 point loss.
WTF games happen even in championship years. Only thing is that that Iowa team in 2011-12 was shit and this one will actually make the postseason.
We still control our own destiny too! Win out and Michigan gets at least a share!
We control our own destiny as well so I don't think it matters if State does or not
We control our destiny as well. If we beat MSU, we are tied in recored but 2-0 against MSU. Do they use tie-breakers for B1G regular season champs?
OK, so we're all in agreement then, yes?
No. We'd be Co-Champs but we would be the #1 seed in the Big Ten Tournament.
I'm sorry but how do people not know this, considering that's exactly what happened two years ago when we won a share of the championship? Not to mention, that's how it's always been since the beginning of time, and it's also how it was in football until a few years ago.
There are no tiebreakers for the regular-season title. They only come into play for BTT seeding.
Both MSU and M control their own destinies considering they play again later in the season.
MSU controlled its own destiny before this game, too. We still control our own destiny for at least a share of the title. Beat MSU on the 23rd and we're sitting pretty good still. Just a tall task.
I hate to admit it though
Agreed. They already won their close call games. It's really hard to see them losing more than once more the rest of the way.
They still have to play Wisconsin, us, and Ohio on the road - that's three very loseable games right there. (They are currently a combined 1-1 against those three, with the one win coming in overtime.) Also, they host Iowa.
we won't win it this year THJ and burke really screwed us by going pro!
Most off-base comment ever?
I believe we still control our own destiny as well.
Michigan controls their own destiny. We need to win on Tuesday. Other than that, I feel pretty good. We've lost 3 games at home in the last 3 seasons.
Not happening. The team looks okay in the standings now, but I have a feeling we're about to hit a tailspin like we did last year.
I think we lose at least 3 more.
I hope you didn't hurt yourself doing all of that thinking.
The tailspin that ended in a National Champioship game loss? I accept your prediction.
Just win and everything else will take care of itself.
Just think we're we could be with burke and hardaway!
We will lose to ohio st next week
Pipe down, troll.
Goes to college
15-3. We finish 14-4
Staee's schedule is easier. They are in the driver's seat.
Disagree. They have to play us in Ann Arbor, OSU in Columbus, Wisconsin in Madison, and Iowa again. That's no easier than what we've got ahead of us.
They are just crashing back to earth and meeting everyone's original expectations. If they had McGary it'd be a different story.
Do we really have a much harder schedule than them? The only game I see as a possible loss besides the game with them is at Ohio. If we win that game, it will come down to the game at Crisler.
We have MSU, Wisconsin, at Ohio, Minnesota, at Illinois, Indiana and at Purdue coming up. We should beat the Badgers and win the four other games outside of Gauntlet # 2.
I hope somebody on this thread mentions that UM controls its destiny....
In theory, yes, but we all know everybody's got some losses ahead. You can't realistically raise the possibility of winning out and thus not needing help.
I hereby raise that it is possible.
Control is still an option.
All I care about is winning on the road Tuesday night. Drop that game and I don't see us winning the B1G title.
Win the next three and it will be fine. Shouldn't be too hard.
I wouldn't say they have poor recruits. Their incoming class is loaded.
and are playing better right now than we are.
and we win on 2/23, I like our chances a lot. 2 pretty big ifs though
Well we can just win our next 3 games or we can go 2-1 and beat MSU and than hope MSU loses one more.
Sparty needs to start losing a few of the games they deserve to lose. It would help if the officials realized that their main strategy is to foul everyone all of the time on defense and trust that no ref has the balls to call a foul every time down the court.
The Richard Sherman/Seattle Seahawks strategy. No one caught on.
Also the MSU football strategy.
As long as we end the year on a six game win streak no one will care if we win the big ten season or tourney :)
they won't lose again with Payne back in the lineup.
They could be right.
They could also be wrong
What i saw was a tired team especially morgan, horford and sloppy play from gr3 and nik. LeVert, Walton, and Irvin looked fine and quick.
Makes me wonder about the transportation and or jetlag. Do they fly or take bus to iowa????
After all, it is a well-known fact that LeVert, Walton, and Irvin love to travel by bus, while GR3 and Stauskas prefer planes...
I meant the entire team, palooka
starters when we were up 40 on Nebraska.
We are 5-0 at home, and 4-2 on the road. The game today sucked, but in the big picture it's just a speedbump.
next year with everyone coming back.
I think we should get 2/3 back. With 3/3 back we'd be ranked # 1 preseason.
after the title is already sewn up.
I really don't see MSU losing again unfortunately.
There's no way they win out. Absolutely no way.
I don't know how anyone can rationally say they don't see MSU losing again.
I mean I could see them losing to us at Crisler. They haven't done well there the past couple years. They will blow Iowa out at home. I know they have Whisky today, forgive me but I don't have the rest of their schedule in front of me. MSU is a great team with Payne in the lineup.
"Win The Game!" - McGary
We still control our own destiny.
No matter what happens in this Wisky/State game.
9-2 vs 9-2
