The on-going saga of Demetrius Hart and our general Rodriguez-fueled success of recruiting top Florida recruits has made me more interested in the idea of recruiting pipelines. As an open question to the various recruiting gurus out there, where are other Big Ten schools known to recruit heavily? Michigan State has a reputation for going heavily in-state, and the state of Ohio has quite a bit of talent annually, but where else do Big Ten schools go?
Big Ten Recruiting Pipelines?
IIRC, Penn State recruits heavily in PA, MD, and OH.
You can add New Jersey and Virginia to that list.
Most Big Ten schools go to Florida to recruit. Florida produced the most D-1 talent last year and with so many teams going to the spread offense, they go to Florida and get speed. Last year Purdue signed 8 players from the sunshine state.
I think Purdue also get's a bunch of lower level Florida kids, other than that I cant really think of another school going primarily out of state. I mean you don't see many kids chomping at the bit to commit to Iowa that aren't from that state. New Big Ten member Nebraska will recruit nationally.
Iowa didnt get any recruits from Florida period. They had Tavian Banks(qb)2002 and we all know what he did to us. But really I only think Um,OSU, little brother,Illinois(Zook), and Minnesota all seem to get a few here and there with UM and OSU getting the better of any of the others. It s a hot state. I wonder why PSU doesnt recruit Florida that well?
Minnesota recruits Minnesota heavily. It also tries to get kids out of TX, LA and FL. It also has signed 6-7 players in the last 3 recruiting cycles from Lackawanna CC in Pennsylvania.
Wisconsin likes to recruit Florida, and I think last year Purdue signed most of it's players from Florida. Other than that.. it's pretty much what each team's territory is.
MSU has a great pipeline in the State of Michigan Correctional Facilities juvie program.
And that pipeline continues from MSU back into the State of Michigan Correctional Facilities adult program.
Basically, MSU is like that JUCO that you go to for a few years between highschool and college, except "highschool" is the juvenile section and "college" is the actual prison.
Penn State also recruits NJ pretty heavily.
Michigan owns the pipeline to and from space, bitches, space.
