BIG TEN Media Days: One question for Rich Rod
I have the opportunity to field one question to Rich Rod via Dave Biddle a writer for Buck Nuts on Tuesday at Big Ten media days. You might start off by asking what are you doing cavorting with the enemy? Dave is a high school friend of mine who is doing me a solid because I'm deployed to Iraq. Right now I'm leaning towards: What area of the team do you expect to see the most improvement from coming out of camp and how much of an impact do you think this years group of freshman will play on the team?
Will there be dilithium or moxy behind center?
Seriously...
I'd ask about the kicking situation.
Thank you for your service. We all owe you a lot. Good luck to you and your group. Godspeed.
I like your first question about areas of improvement. It is hard to think of good questions to ask in a scenario like that. What I would really like to ask is, "How tired are you of the media dogging you? In your estimation, when do you feel we can fairly estimate your ability to lead the Michigan program? Is Dave Birkett as big an ass as he seems to me?"
Did you give 110% to the bobblethon? What do you think about the freep link boycott? How about the new water bottle policy? Is Denard five times better than Pat White or just twice as good? Are you pwning NCAA '11? What's your favorite 2010 hype video? How many wins do you need this year and which games are must wins?
OK, maybe I spend too much time here.
You forgot "Who's your pick for the MgoBannerContest?"
How do you plan to deploy an angry lightning bear with a hockey stick throughout the season?
How will the loss of Jay Hopson improve your linebackers' play?
"Could you estimate how many hours a day you spend memorized by GERG's beautifully flowing white locks?"

I think you were looking for a different word there.
Isn't it great how you can leave out a letter and suddenly you've spelled a completely different word?
borrow your family's ticket allotment sometime? They get a box, right?"
Your dedication to America's pursuit of liberty is inspiring and I take my hat off to you. Thank you for all that you do.
I would ask what area of the team or position MUST improve the most for this team to be successful this season? Also, what is your bottom line number of victories for this season to be a success?
I would avoid questions or statements that involve a "bottom-line" for success. You know you'll never get an actual answer and frankly, I don't think there is one.
I'd like to know what, if any, changes he's made in his "usual" spread since he's arrived at Michigan. He's clearly had to adjust to the personnel he's had, but I wonder if there are any subtle evolutions that I as an uneducated/uninformed fan might not pick up on.
...done this for Tim, since he's a credentialed media representative at the meetings and will have a chance to ask questions. He's been online this morning on the Big Ten recruiting rankings thread, so perhaps he'll look here for some inspiration.
Tim: What does it mean to this Michigan team that Eliott Mealer's brother Brock -- who's regaining his ability to walk with the assistance of your S&C staff -- will lead the Wolverines onto the field for the opener against UConn?
[Edit: This question works for the OP's Bucknuts friend as well since Brock is an OSU grad student.]
Of the 5 positions in the secondary, how many do you have a known starter for Sept. 4? 1?
He'd probably reply with "zero."
I know he's not exactly Fort Schembechler, but Bo would have cussed out the reporter for even asking.
Will the #1 jersey go to a kicker, or a lineman this year?
Thanks for your service to the USA, OP. Now to the question:
"Are you aware if a specific date has been set yet for hiring Jim Harbaugh to replace you?"
(J/K)
Six years from now when you have cost Jim Bob Tressel his job will you feel a measure of guilt or laugh out loud and without remorse? As a side note, take comfort in the fact that you cannot be held liable in Columbus for couch burnings and car tossing for simply beating them on the football field.
Thank you for your service! I personally want to thank you!
And I'd personally like to ask, "Who's the better pitch man, Rod Smith or Ricardo Miller?"

When you sing along to the Victors, could you maybe make your wrist a little less limp during "Hail, Hail"?
