Big ten elite episode covering the 2013 Final Four run. Started with the win over MSU at the Breslin center in 2011 and finished with L'ville in the national championship (clean block by Trey) The Trey shot against Kansas still gives me goosebumps everytime i watch it. Enjoy GO BLUE!!

Why wouldn't they show it?

That's more us being sensitive than ESPN-ish. Trey literally said he was an OSU football fan and he was jumping up and down when OSU won THAT game. Why wouldn't they show the game? It's literally what he's talking about.

It's not like he just said "I grew up an OSU football fan" and then they just picked out a random OSU football highlight. He specifcally mentioned the game and said he was standing the whole game rooting for OSU that day.

Made perfect sense to me.

The funny thing about watching this last night was that having all of my feelings about these moments condensed into an hour of television kind of left me drained but still elated that this team got oh so close. It was  very exciting as it was happening, and it was still exciting in review. A very nice episode indeed, I thought - and yes, still got chills watching Trey's Trey.

I'm OK with the Fab Five banners not hanging in the rafters.  I was at the game in Minneapolis in 1992 and it was a lot of fun to go there but celebrating the Fab Five has to be done in context of what is right for a program and how the probation destroyed our program and elevated Izzo to celebrity status.  Otherwise it's no different than lifting Tressel up and parading him around the horseshoe.  I think it would be good to have a display in the concourse at Crisler with the Fab Five banners, the 1998 Big Ten tourney banner and the 1997 NIT banner surrounded by more detail on the story.

I loved watching this last night. Every highlight they would show I'd remember where I was, who I was watching it with, and all of the reactions. I smiled through the whole thing.

Again watching clips from the PSU game, Jordan Morgan's put back miss against Indiana and the terrible call on Trey's block were painful. But getting to relive the Kansas game again was oh so worth it. I sometimes forget how incredible of a game that was and how with 3 minutes left I had never been so at peace with the fact that Michigan's postseason was going to end. What a fun roller coaster ride that was.

It looks like the IU player may have pushed his hand as he went for the rebound thus pushing J-Mo's hand (which was on the ball) too hard and forcing him to be "too strong" with the putback.

He also had to reach further than I remember to even get the put back.

For whatever reason, it was a "tap in" whenever I thought about it. In truth, it was far from that.

Still hard to stomach, but I never realize that it was a touch more difficult than I first thought.

I've only watched a few clips of that shot before. I was at that game and from where my seats were, it looked like it had dropped in. Granted the degree of difficulty looks a little higher in slow-mo, but the painful part for me is remembering how everyone in our section was jumping up and down and celebrating...until we realized so was Indiana and that no one else in arena was looking very happy.

Having gone down to Atlanta and having had one of the best weekends of my life until the last 6 minutes of the title game, this helped. The loss soured a lot of it. I have never gone back and re-watched the title game. Seeing the players and coaches looking back on the experience fondly reminded me how great it was and how impressive they were. My Cool Story Bro includes meeting Desmond, drinking with Jimmy King and Makhtar Ndiaye, and saying hello to Bill Russell and other basketball royalty.

Thanks for sharing...I just cancelled the "Sports Pass" on my Time Warner, because I hate Time Warner (but U-Verse isn't offered in my area and I can't get DirecTV)...so I no longer have BTN.

This was awesome. Teary eyed and laughing. Smiling while sad.

I've said it before, but this will always be my favorite season in sports. I just remember watching every dribble of that season. Many times, I rewatched each game 3-4 times. They were so fun to watch, so balanced, so talented yet so hardworking. I love this team.

Back-to-Back Pistons, Fab Five, '97 Wolverines will always been LEGENDARY for me. My favorites, but this 2013 team had just a little something different that made it so special to witness.

I don't know if it's that it didn't come easy for them or that they weren't dominant at any one thing. I think it was just the balance and the fact that they played basketball perfectly (in my eyes)..

They were perfection, the good and the bad.

I remember shrugging after the @OSU game because we kind of needed a loss. And smiling after the @ IU game, because we needed to grow. That Indiana game was insane, you could feel the energy from your TV. It was Duke/UNC at it's best type energy. Michigan hadn't felt that in so long...it was awesome, and to see Burke live up to the moment while everyone learned was admirable.

Then we came back home and got MSU and OSU at home and you really knew we had something special.

To finish the year with the @PSU game, the tip-OUT and the B1G Tourney loss...it sort of added to the story. The adversity.

I remember we started the tournament and we still weren't even playing well. By that VCU game we started showing signs. The KU game showed flashes but that was a REALLY good opponent - then after all of the missed game winners, we got "the shot."

The Florida game was that team playing it's best basketball for the world to see. We had finally gotten it back and carried it through to the next two opponents. We didn't blow them out, but they were both much better teams.

...in the end, as a fan, all I want is for my team to play it's best for as long as possible. That's what this team did, it played it's best and maxed out it's potential. It left everything it had out there. It was such a fun thing to watch. What a season.

Thanks again for sharing!

So many great things to point out.  Forgot the IU loss at end of season and how that felt.

Also liked how they pointed out McGary's renessaince(?) in the middle of the season.  GRIII commented on how much he ate at Wendy's every night.

Finally Spike looks like the kid next door. When you see him on the court he looks so aggressive, but his interviews were awesome.  He sounded so young!!

What a great year to relive and that block on Siva still pisses me off.  What a great play by Burke.

I love that the included the 10 second violation. That's been cut from many highlights, but is so quintessentially Trey Burke: he believes we're still in the game, and he's the only one of the two who is fully aware of the game situation. He even disguises it so well: trying to just slow Johnson down would tip him off to the need to get the ball across, so Burke goes for a steal, which slows Johnson down. The fact that it was Nutpunch Johnson makes it so much better.

That's got to be my favorite play of the year, because it's so intelligent and crucially important. Well, favorite except for The Trey. And the steal against MSU. Oh man, Trey was so awesome.

I still lose sleep over not winning that B1G title that year. Really bothers me to this day. Would have been 3 in a row. Just needed one more win.

on that season and the show did a good job of pointing out how "snakebit" the team was. Perhaps, that's true for all bb,  teams over a season.  But for any one of a number of super close plays ...

of being selected for a Big Ten Elite episode. MSU just got one for their 2013 Rose Bowl season, too, and you-know-who is going to get 2014 football season edition soon, so it's good to be in that club so recently.

I just couldn't watch it though. It's weird but I wasn't ready. I'm sure I will be in another year or two, but right now with the team struggling and knowing what could have been that season after coming so close and this season with guys like Stauskas and GRIII still having eligibility, it just wouldn't be an enjoyable hour to spend.

Don't get me wrong, I loved that team.

I wish Stauskas and GRIII would have come back, a la Noah and Horford for Florida in '07-08. I still don't understand our Horford leaving. I think McGary would have left regardless of the stupid NCAA thing but you never know. Just a lot of unfortunate not-nice things.

But on the bright side, while 2015 recruiting looks thin, 2016 looks stronger and this group we have now will be seasoned juniors and seniors -- guys like MAAR, Dawkins, and Doyle and are not going to leave early and could be solid, experienced players. I'm hoping the same for Chatman and WIlson, they may not be leaders but they'll also contribute.

We get 1-2 of those elite 4-5 star guys on the 2016 offer board and maybe pull one surprise out of the 2015 class and watch out. We'll be back in the tourney next year and be solid again for deep runs after that.

amazing player. I knew that but watching last night it was even clearer he was the heart and soul of that team. Talent is important, but talent without a mission so strong that failure will eat you alive is what makes the difference. Nobody on the current team seems to have that.
