was at the michigan football media/picture day before they made it main stream to allow everyone to come. back then it was in the middle of the week and it was open to public but since it wasn't on a weekend not that many people would go to it only a few hundred. after they were done with all of the pictures you could go and get autographs before the players bailed out of there... the reason why my dad and i were in the stand was because dahani jones was about 50 rows up doing interviews with the press and i wanted to get his autograph...

I was in fifth grade when Michigan basketball made its glorious run in 1988-89, but I knew it was special even then. That's part of the reason the detail in the special about the 1989 basketball team was great for me - it was great to see the details I know would have eluded me then.
That team set a few records - both NCAA and team - that still stand today, I believe. Indeed, they shot 56.6% from the field as a team for the year, which is remarkable. Glen Rice scored 949 points and I believe he even shot over 50% on 3-pointers for the season. Five players from this team went in the 1989 and 1990 drafts. Great times indeed.

It was a great show and enjoyed it. Some parts of 1989 team reminded me of last year's team just if we would been able to beat Louisville for championship. FYI: This week's Journey which will air Saturday at 430pm is doing a feature on Nik Stauskas.

Had they won that game they would've had more wins than any other Michigan bball team and you could argue they were the best ever

But we should note that basketball seasons are longer now than they used to be, so just winning the most games in a season doesn't automatically make a team the best ever. I think I would give 1989 a slight edge over 2013 due to more experience and post scoring.

Yes, there are some similarities. The show also reinforces just how small the margin often is between victory and defeat.
