MSU is a member of the B1G, and consequently I care about their record.  It directly impacts Michigan's standing in the league.  MSU went into the game ranked #1 in NCAA MBB, and Michigan competes with MSU for players on the recruiting trail.  Plus, I've an intense dislike for their two main revenue sports, so I like it when they lose. So yeah - I care what MSU does.

Why do you care whether other people care what MSU does?

at creating a Fuck MSU thread cuz they lost tonight in Iowa City.  The first 3 have all been deleted already.

What would you like us to say?  the #1 team in the country got beat by an unranked Iowa in their B1G opener.

It wasn't us. I'm more worried about our own B1G opener.

Outside of football, MSU is our biggest rival in basketball and hockey. The other sports, well let's be honest, don't really receive that much attention. So I guess I find it hilarious when others bitch about "our MSU obsession." They are our rivals, fucking deal with it. And if people want to laugh at their expense, let them.

I had Iowa as a sleeper 12-6 in conf type of team yesteday in the bball thread - looked really good playing a team I am not that familiar with tonight.  Esp considering their conf player of the yr candidate played a meh game. Glad we get them in AA.   Going to be tough for anyone to beat in Iowa City.

I honestly think it is more MSU is complete garbage without Valentine. They went to overtime against Oakland without him. It's amazing the excuses that are made with regards to Izzo. If you are a national power like MSU is supposed to be every year, your starting point guard going down shouldn't relegate you to the bottom of the league. Shit, we had our two best players out last year and still managed to go 8-10 in the B10. Without Valentine, I'm not sure they would go 8-10 this year. Maybe this is a wake up for the "Beilein is a mediocre coach" portion of our fanbase

Wow. You are ridiculous. They just lost their first game of the season! Did you expect them to go undefeated? Iowa was favored to win the game. How do you turn that into Izzo is overrated and Beilein is underrated? You sound like one of the weird guys.

With valentine they are the best team in the country. I'm not sure we can even make the argument that we are middle of the road in the Big Ten. I'm not sure laughing at MSU misfortune is the best position for us to take until we can beat Iowa ourselves. This is a REALLY good Iowa team.

Valentine is no Magic Johnson.  Sorry...they are not the best team in the country.  Obviously lack depth and that catches up to you in the tournament....with or without injuries.  Valentine won't go 6 games straight playing lights out.  He's no Melo that will carry a team to a national title.

They are obviously much better when he is in the lineup, but don't let that #1 ranking fool you.  It's very early in the year and teams like Kentucky, Duke, Maryland, North Carolina and Arizona have more talent than MSU.

We have a very high ceiling and will be able to play with them....just need to figure out that whole post defense/rebounding thing.

I was surprised to see Wisconsin beat Purdue after a couple unexpected early seeason losses and their coach recently retiring.   Just goes to show how tough it is to win on the road in the Big Ten.
