Izzo coach of the year? Time to puke.
"For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong." -H.L. Mencken
This year has been like night and day from last year. This year:
His prized recruits didn't allegedly gang rape a co-ed.
He didn't allegedly illegally fund Brandon Dawson's unofficial recruiting trips.
He wasn't allegedly suspended by the NCAA.
He didn't get allegedly swept by his in-state rival(after guaranteeing a victory).
He didn't allegedly outbid the $30,000 Marquette funneled through Dawson's AAU coach for his services.
Like I said, night and day. Just the same, those votes must have been cast last week, before he allegedly got pummeled by Tom Crean(and if you're not picking Beilein because of Michigan's success last year, Crean is your only choice) and allegedly lost on his own court to Ohio.

For doing a sucky job LAST year.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
Taylor wil get a lifetime all big ten nod....always goes down like that. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hummel get the same respect either.
Burke/Green are about the only 2 consistent guys who deserve 1st team and after that who knows...
izzo?
they know that today isn't april fools, right?
Burke and Zeller are both FOY, Burke by the Media, zeller by the coaches.
Izzo and Green were selected by both btw. didnt someone attack me for saying that Izzo was one of the leaders of the race?
because you made a terrible argument in favor of Izzo; not because nobody thought Izzo had a chance.
As a poster above noted succinctly and perfectly, "Izzo was rewarded for doing a sucky job LAST year".
I compulsively downvote any usage of "lol".
Izzo over Crean is a surprise to me.....based on preseason expectations I understand why he won it. I probably would have gone Crean since he hadn't done squat up to this point. I think Coach B did exactly what was expected of him this season considering we were preseason top 20.
Not sure why the hate for Izzo....even though he coachs at msu, the guy is a damn good coach who you could argue took a "one" man team as some have said and got a share of the conference title.
I disagree with it for a few reasons:
1. I don't like to reward coaches for bringing in rent-a-seniors. I hate that rule. When Izzo took Wood, it was basically an admission that he'd failed at recruiting and developing his backcourt through normal channels. (Not that Wood is a superstar or anything, but having him around was probably worth an extra win or two over the course of the season.)
2. If he had a one-man team, then he failed at developing a lot of guys, because MSU's roster is stacked with HS blue-chippers
3. Beilein equalled his accomplishments with far less talent (based on recruiting rankings).
You think Beilein and Michigan did exactly what was expected by winning the Big Ten? Michigan was ranked to begin the season but thats a far cry from being expected to win the conference. There were many that were saying Michigan was overated early on due to the departure of D-Mo. The preseason favorites were OSU, Wisconsin and Michigan State and if you dont believe me here is a link.

You must have been sleeping for the last two days when that prattling little bitch cried to ever reporter who would stick a microphone in his bloated red face that, "They're just glad they didn't have to depend on anybody. Nobody did them any favors." Like somehow they're MORE deserving of a championship because they got jailsexed in their last two games rather than...just for the sake of argument...winning them on the road.

lol
Fraizer and Taylor over Burke. I hate award shows...unless Michigan is getting them.
"For every complex problem, there is a solution that is simple, neat, and wrong." -H.L. Mencken
Fraizer probably deserves it, but I didn't think he'd get it. Taylor on the other hand is a career achievement, there's no other reason he would get it.
2nd team.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
Although I'm disappointed Burke didn't get first team, I know he has a bright future and will get his before his Michigan career is over.
Hopefully he can prove the voters wrong over the next month or so.
Those Who Stay...
Burke wins media FOTY
COYS and lets go Detroit FC!
As soon as they announced they "tied" this week too.

we don't really care.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
Taylor was not a shock at all.....you could see that coming from a mile away. Frazier was shocking only because you knew he was good but had nothing around him.
There is no conspirarcy theory...no one hates us. These have all been reasonable if you ask me. I do think they got the B1G Coach of the Year wrong. IMO, that was Creen or Beilein. Izzo was certainly 3rd, but it's not like they didn't get a share of the B1G Title too and not like they didn't carry the B1G for much of the B1G season...also they're currently the highest seeded team from the B1G. So it's not like they gave it to Tubby Smith.

Hardaway gets 3rd team (both media and coaches)

Here's a summary of Michigan's honors, from a U-M press release:
Fresh off winning a share of its first Big Ten championship in 26 years, the University of Michigan men's basketball team had a trio of players earn all-conference honors in freshman Trey Burke (Columbus, Ohio/Northland HS), sophomore Tim Hardaway Jr. (Miami, Fla./Palmetto Senior HS) and senior Zack Novak (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton HS) on Monday (March 5). Additionally, senior Stu Douglass (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS) was named U-M's Sportsmanship honoree.
Burke highlights the Wolverine honorees with four awards -- Freshman of the Year by the media, All-Big Ten second team from coaches and media, and a unanimous selection to the all-freshman team. Hardaway earned All-Big Ten third team (coaches and media) honors, while Novak was All-Big Ten honorable mention (media).

Imagine if we had won that Purdue game, a lot things would change here. Beilein would be the COY, Burke would be FOY, and Burke and Hardaway might improved to 1st and 2nd team
Playing football on Wall Street

Any chance Burke gets first team all Big Ten? Who has been a better point guard this year? Tim Frazier? Jordan Taylor? Taylor hasn't been that good this year and Frazier is on a losing team. Go Burke.
