Big House seating question

Submitted by Boomer519 on

OK so I am doing this from my phone so please forgive my auto corrected spelling. I am heading back home to visist family in October and since I have never been to a home game I am trying to make the Illinois game on the 13th. My question is what is the seating situation like? What sections or areas should I concentrate my ticket search in?

Edited- HaHaHa I knew there would be at least one auto coreected word in there that would screw up my post.

Here's a map

The student section is between section 25 and 33, I've had the most fun by being near them (though everybody is different). Opposing fan sections are in the opposite endzone, iirc. There's really not a bad seat in the house in my opinion. My favorite rows are 25-30, very close to the action but also gives a great view of the entire field. If you get endzone seats you'll need to be around row 30 at least to have a good view of the opposite end, in my experience.

Now a question of my own: I just got my student tickets, and I'm in row 80. How much moving around is there in the student section? Will I be able to move up or go with friends even if my seat isn't technically next to theirs? My guess is yes, but I would like to know the extent of this. I'm likely to go to the stadium an hour or two early, will I be able to get better seats?

Most likely you can move around, but you may have to be a little sneaky depending on if you have any of the nazi ushers in your section. Usually, you can move down a few rows, then across behind the ushers, and back and forth, or sometimes you can just move around, but some of the ushers are dicks, and they are more strict in the student section than they used to be. Also, it depends on if the people whose seat you are in are douchebags or will realize you are just trying to sit with your friends.

from my experiences, you should be able to move around the student section within reason... obviously the lower you try to sneak the more annoyed the upperclassmen who have those seats will be.  if you are your friends are trying to stand together in row 80 i cant imagine ppl giving you a hard time.  its potentially a bit harder if you have tickets in different sections, but still possible.

I didn't want seats too low in the bowl, because you couldn't see the action at the other end.  With the AWESOME new scoreboards, it's not an issue anymore.  I had seats in section 20 a couple years ago and they were terrific.  I prefer anything from row 20 to row 50 myself.  Best of luck.

Seating duration:

Section 33          0%

Section 41         58%

Section 1           79%

Section 12         37%

Section 23         91%

You're welcome.

Uhm inside, and sit closer to the field and 50 like every stadium in the world. Any more brain busters?
