"The Lights are one thin strip across the top of each of the boxes. All of the pictures are of the lights on the east side box."

I thought the Stadium was going to take off. And then I had an urge to build a mountain out of mashed potatoes.

I wonder how many games will be at night in 2012?
November 18th, 2010 at 11:35 PM ^
Well, for next year if Nebraska or Ohio State games kick off at ~3:30 they'll be very dark before half. Although the last few times OSU has been in AA the games have been at 12...so we might not be that lucky.

I think you can mark that one down as an BC primtetime game unless there is another one first. I would imagine the first night game at the Big House would be a pretty big pull and throw the rivalry on top of it and it has all of the makings for a big time game.

Do you think there is any chance that they will make a couple of those TBA into straight out night games or will the cost of those puppies be ginormus?

what is 1 strip of lights gonna do? is that really gonna light up the whole field?
November 18th, 2010 at 9:59 PM ^
I'm sure it will. I'm pretty pumped that they seem to blend right in.
Well done, architects and designers.

reaction to dilithium playing under lights powered by dilithium? Could it be the answer to cold fusion or will it precipitate the end of the world? I guess we will find out in 2012.

I fabricated and welded the support structures. Do I get any credit? :(

left out of the limelight.

pun intended?
November 19th, 2010 at 12:34 PM ^
a dim question.
November 19th, 2010 at 2:55 PM ^
a shadow of a doubt.
November 19th, 2010 at 3:33 PM ^
I'm just glad the stadium is getting glowing reviews.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:54 PM ^
im pretty sure theres lights on the other side of the field plus they're retractable
November 18th, 2010 at 11:41 PM ^
I'm willing to bet that whoever the University paid to put lights in the stadium knew a little something about lighting.
November 19th, 2010 at 6:30 AM ^
I was thinking the same thing, but I like how subtle they are.

This makes me so effing excited. Can you imagine what standing in that shadow with 113,000 of your closest friends wearing Maize and screaming your face off and celebrating each Michigan touchdown is going to feel like?

that the blue car stopped in panic - like the Close Encounters mothership was landing - and his map and coins and ipod were all floating to the roof ceiling.

I wonder if that's the final setup? Will they add more in the middle to make a continuous strip and are there lights on the west side too?
November 18th, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
Just got back from a run down there. Snuck into Chrysler as they were cleaning up and snuck out into the Stadium. The field looks absolutely amazing, I can't wait for the ND game.

we're not supposed to talk about Mgopoints, but when I see your total I sorta feel like one of Barry Bonds' teammates when he came back in spring all Hulked out. What happened?
November 18th, 2010 at 10:45 PM ^
no comment
but seriously, I have no clue how my total increased by 100k in one day...My only theory is that my past -100k mgopoint negbomb by Brian expired.
November 18th, 2010 at 10:51 PM ^
You have more than Brian...
Absolutely amazing.
Edit: You now have the highest out of anyone by a wide margin.
November 19th, 2010 at 7:19 PM ^
What was the genesis of the 100K negbomb?

I was walking my dog near the stadium a few minutes ago (very dark outside) and the glow from the stadium was pretty impressive. I obviously didnt see the inside/the field but based on the light coming from those strips it seems like there will be plenty of light for night games. Might be a dumb question...but maybe they're LED?

Look, we all get hot and bothered being so close to the stadium, but keep that at home, please.
What?

From the Stadium at my house.

They are very low-profile it seems like they could be LED. I don't think LED lights are all that powerful, so probably not LED.
Also, I didn't realize it's done and they'll be on during the Wisconsin game:
