Big Heart Big House 5K/10K

Submitted by MGoChairman on

To the MGoCommunity,

I just registered for the Big Heart Big House 10k. Seeing as how its my first year doing it, and the course information isn't available yet, can anyone who has done it share some information? Any other general thoughts?

One big loop, starting by the ICLE building entrance to the Big House and ending through the tunnel onto the field. The only hill I remember was going downhill on State Street on the way back to the stadium. It was a quick fun run (but I did the 5k), and ending up at the 50 yd line was awesome. I believe the 10k just takes a larger loop and starts earlier.

I volunteered to do Saturday setup last year and spent a ton of time in the stadium.  Drove my truck down the tunnel (to shuttle tables) and did setup on the field.  I'm sure they can use volunteers again this year if you are not planning to run.

I first heard about this a few months back, and was gung-ho about doing it at the time (of course now I haven't run in over a month).  I still want to do it, so I better get my ass off the couch and start putting in a few miles before fall.

I did the 5K a couple years ago.  We ran up the hill on either 5th or Division.  Then it was downhill most of the way back (including the tunnel into the stadium).  Not sure if the 10K will be a different route or if it is a 2 loop course.  Not really a PR type of course, but also not really a really difficult course either.

Then a full out sprint from the end zone to the finish at the 50 yd line...  Even if you're not a runner its worth the struggle to get a chance to finish on the field..  And, its a good cause!
