Big Chill Jersey at M-Den
From The M-Den, the Big Chill jersey, based on the 1948 national champions jersey I presume:
I love this jersey!

For comparison, here is the 1947 version:

I want! Either new or old.

Seriously debating getting one. I already have a maize block M jersey... decisions, decisions...

That is definitely on the Christmas list!

I like the concept, but the Wolverine looks more like a ferret. Wish they would have left it off, but then again it wouldn't be a true throwback if it was changed.

While it's true that Wolverine isn't the most indimidating rendition of one, we've just got to embrace it. It was worn by the first, of many, Michigan Hockey National Championship teams!

I was thinking more along the lines of a rabid beaver. I get the throwback and all, but I personally do not care for the jersey. If we beat MSU by 5 goals though, I would be all for putting rabid beavers/ferrets and maize jerseys on all of our sports teams (whilst listening to RAWK music at night).

Ferret
Beaver
Wolverine
Any questions?

classic

The more you see the not-so-iconic Wolverine, the more you'll love it. Give it time and ruminate on it for a spell.
Or said differently, "Try it Mikey, you'll like it."

picking one up tomorrow.

AMAZING.

I do like the homage to the '47 unis, though.
And it's MAIZE. W00t!

I've been waiting to pick up a jersey, hoping they released a special sweater for the Big Chill. Ordering now....
November 12th, 2010 at 12:22 PM ^
they arent wearing those though, are they?
November 12th, 2010 at 12:34 PM ^
From the press release:
The University of Michigan hockey team will wear special Adidas game jerseys featuring a retro-inspired design for the "The Big Chill at the Big House," the outdoor hockey game between Michigan and Michigan State that is scheduled for Dec. 11 at Michigan Stadium.
So I'm saying yes. The other great thing this means a maize on green game.
November 12th, 2010 at 12:35 PM ^
I wish they were true wool sweaters.
November 12th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
How much are those going for? Will they be available at the game?
November 12th, 2010 at 12:37 PM ^
I need one of these. Amazing.
Yet 90 bucks...
November 12th, 2010 at 12:52 PM ^
the '48 version had RED STRIPES running through the shoulder yoke in addition to the maize, blue, and white. Yes, you heard me correctly, and NO, I haven't been sniffing rubber cement: RED STRIPES.
My only guess is that the patriotism in the country was still fervent and even found its way onto the UM hockey sweater, eh.

Love the jersey, hate the Arby's logo
November 12th, 2010 at 12:55 PM ^
Those are awesome, would definitely snag one off a clearance rack given a chance. But $90? What am I, made of money? You'd think Arby's would be willing to subsidize it a bit...
November 12th, 2010 at 1:12 PM ^
Not to mention the adidas replica hockey jerseys are paper thin. They just don't feel like a $90 jersey.
November 12th, 2010 at 2:26 PM ^
Same goes for the replica Reebok NHL jersey's. I got a Lidstrom one last year and it looked real cheap compared to my old CCM Yzerman jersey. Back in the days they used to make even the replica's in Canada, now they are all made in Indonesia and you can really tell the difference in quality.

I hope they still have them in stock next week. I want to try one out before I buy it, but I'm not in Ann Arbor all weekend.

No youth sizes, no small :[
November 12th, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
you'll want it big. For sweatshirts/layers/flasks/coats to go under the jersey
November 12th, 2010 at 2:43 PM ^
I already made a deal with my husband that I get to wear his Maize block M jersey over my coat for the game. That's what I wore last year to the Hockey Classic as well. I think I just want this one for wearing the rest of the time.
I totally dig the Wolverine on it. He looks sweet....until he rips your head off.
November 12th, 2010 at 4:12 PM ^
Thanks for the head's up, Moe's! I might have to get myself an early Christmas present...
And I'm already swimming in a small, I did a dry run this past weekend with my current maize jersey and sweatshirt underneath it, mittens, boots and winter hat. It was GREAT SUCCESS!!
November 12th, 2010 at 1:47 PM ^
are they going to stick with the traditional football inspired helmet?
or are the going to do a classic white or blue ( I know the did not wear helmets back in '47)

*grimace*
I'm generally a fanatic for throwbacks and special unis. I was one of the first in line at College Shoe Repair when U-M reintroduced the script maize jerseys back in '92 (?). I have a throwback Knuble jersey from the '94 GLI (only about three sizes too big -- fits like a dress). And I have a Winter Classic Red Wings jersey, although I agree that the Rbk quality is significantly less than Nike or CCM. Maybe five U-M jerseys in all. I'd probably have more if not for my wife.
But I'm definitely with Brian on this one. Not trying to be Buzz Killington, but these things are garish. I wish the AD had done some focus groups before committing to this (maybe they did?). They're almost laughable. I would love to look at our throwbacks and think, man, those are freaking awesome. But instead, I think the Sparties are going to have a field day. Who knows, maybe they'll grow on me. I hope so.

Oh, boo. It isn't our season jersey or anything. Ridiculous + Hillarious + Significant Historical Tie = Win for me.
November 12th, 2010 at 7:53 PM ^
The Arby's logo has prevented me from wanting to purchase any big chill items, it is so prominent
