Big Chill basically sold out
I think it's safe to say UM will set the hockey attendance record on Dec. 11 (sorry, no link, but this is from the AP feed):
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- University of Michigan officials say they've sold 105,585 tickets for an outdoor hockey game at Michigan Stadium between the Wolverines and rival Michigan State.
Michigan announced sales Monday that would set the world record for attendance at an ice hockey game.
"The Big Chill at the Big House" takes place Dec. 11.

Have you got your tickets yet? I heard they were being mailed out in early October but I haven't gotten mine yet.

mgoblue.com says they will be mailed in early November.

I wish.
If it were financially or geographically possible, I would be there yelling my lungs out. Unfortunately I live in Arizona now, so unless I come across tons of money in the next six weeks to pay for a cross-country trip (and scalped tickets), I'll just be watching on the teevee.

Pretty sure you can get scalped tickets for way cheap. Most of the student section dislikes cold. All my roommates are planning on selling/not using their tickets (a Big Chill ticket was included in the football season package).

-1 for each of your friends. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It may never happen again. It's more than just a game. It's an event.
I bet they do a killing on hot chocolate at the game.

Tell your roommates to grow a pair.

and take turns using it

to other athletes and their families for extemely discounted prices. Should be a huge market for second-hand tickets and scalping for the Big Chill.

I havn't gotten my tickets yet. Can't wait though, I love being a part of attendance records!

Anyone know if they sold the club seats and suites for it?
October 19th, 2010 at 8:14 AM ^
Club seat and suite holders were given the opportunity to purchase the tickets for this game.

I seriously regret not buying tickets last spring. I had no idea this game would be so popular. I already bought my plane ticket but I'm still looking for at least 2 tickets to the game. Anyone have any extras? Please?
October 18th, 2010 at 11:40 PM ^
Craigslist and/or stubhub should have some up. I checked about a month ago and they had some for not terribly unreasonable prices.

For $1 Million Dollars!

Got my tickets. Just need to figure out how to pay my way from San Diego.

Ass, gas, or grass, man. Ass, gas, or grass

I had to choose between flying back for Thanksgiving or flying back for the Big Chill, I choose the latter. Bought my plane ticket two weeks ago now and I'm getting very excited. (I never liked Thanksgiving anyway, food allergy to poultry).
Can someone confirm this too? I remember reading that they would be instaling an Olympic sized ice sheet instead of the standard NHL/Collegiate sized rink.
October 19th, 2010 at 1:14 AM ^
The current plan is an Olympic-sized sheet.
October 19th, 2010 at 9:25 AM ^
too bad it would be way too costly to put in a sheet that size in yost
October 19th, 2010 at 4:49 PM ^
That and there's no room for it.

I think what you meant to say was you forgot to include your brother when you and your wife got yours.

@Meals I have 2 extra tickets in section 12. Let me know if you still need them. I wish I could find some tickets in the student section but haven't had any luck yet.

I bought a student ticket for the event. What is the deal with validation? Is it the same as Football? Or is it not necessary? thanks.
October 19th, 2010 at 11:56 AM ^
No validation necessary. On the ticket it specifically says "No student id required" or something to that extent.
October 20th, 2010 at 3:43 PM ^
I don't actually have the ticket yet, I guess I would find that out when I get it. thanks.
