Big 12

I know bowl records are not the be all end all, but is it reasonable to say that the Big12 was as overrated as a lot of people thought? Kansas was the only Big12 team to win convincingly. Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech all lost by double-digits.

The Big 12 was by far the most over hyped conference this season. It's like the Big Ten the past few years: A lot of highly ranked teams playing each other, but all with similar weaknesses that make them easy prey for other conferences. I think the SEC and Pac-10 are by far the best conferences in college football, but the Pac-10 only has two or three good teams each year.

So does this mean that every BCS conference is down or overhyped this year?

The Big Ten and Big East were terrible, the ACC had 11 mediocre teams plus Duke, the Pac 10 went something like 2-5 against the Mountain West.

Even the SEC was nowhere near as good as last year, with Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, Arkansas, and Kentucky all way down from last year, and Georgia not living up to their preseason hype.

And now the Big 12 goes down in flames.

Have Urban Meyer and Pete Carroll become such monsters that they have laid waste to the entire college football landscape, leaving the smoking ruins of fallen programs between them?
