Big 10 Lines, 10/3

Submitted by jamiemac on
Since this is just going to be a list of lines, which I hope spark some Sunday night, Monday morning discussion, I am putting this info in the forum. I mean, I could stretch into a Diary, but I the purpose is served here. Here are next week's Big 10 lines....courest caribsports.com UM -1 at MSU......oddsmakers suddenly have a new problem on their hands. People want to bet on Michigan for the first time in a couple of years. Or Maybe they want to bet against State. Anyway this line was MSU -4 in the summer, and despite losses to CMU and ND still was MSU -3 last week. This line shocks me. I guess the wiseguy moles planted at Schembechler Hall have convinced somebody that Forcier's injury is nothing to be concerned about. NW +6.5 at Purdue Wisco +3 at Minny.....I kinda like the Badgers here. Penn State -6 at Illinois.....the Illini were Phil Steele's #1 Most Improved Team this year. Oops. They we -2.5 in this game over the summer. Can you imagine what it must feel like to be stuck with one those tickets right now? FYL. OSU -16.5 at Indiana. Sadly no totals are out yet. I still say any games involving MSU, UM, Wisco, Purdue and Minny deserve a automatic look at the totals to get your capping week started. Thoughts?

Minnesota is a good team, but the Badgers are better. They're flying under the radar a bit. Probably take Purdue over NW and give the points. UM-MSU is a very hard game to call and should be avoided. Too many variables (Forcier injury, rivalry game, MSU needs it or their season is a total washout).

I disagree. The badgers are not a good football team this year, nor have they been for a year or two now. Living in Wisconsin, typically I would agree with your sentiment that the badgers have traditionally been a bit under rated or "disrespected" in the past when they have had good teams. This year they are just not a very good football team. At Camp Randall I give them a puncher's chance against most teams, and am worried for the wolverines since that's the week before tosu, but, do not expect the badgers to win many road games this year. UM (if Forcier is at least 75%) - And take the over, doesn't matter what it is... Purdue Minnesota PSU Indiana

Wisconsin's defense has definitely slipped the past couple of years, but their offense is back on track and will continue to get better. Yesterday, Tolzien threw for 243 yards and was 18/31 with 4 TD and 0 interceptions. John Clay ran for 142 yards and 1 TD on 32 carries (4.4 YPC). Minnesota does not have a defense that can stop Wisconsin's offense. Their only chance is for Weber-Decker to outscore them. Gimmee Wisconsin and the points.

Except Minny seems to like playing in their new stadium a lot. Did the OSU-IU line change after the UM-IU game? I wonder if oddsmakers attributed the close game to M's weaknesses or IU's underrated talents.
