On to BGSU

Submitted by BlueinLansing on

The Falcons beat Marshall by the deceiving score of 44-28.  BGSU picked off 4 passes and returned two for TD's, including the last one just seconds after punching it in for the final margin.

BGSU seems a little more pass oriented than run, they used two QB's today, why? don't know.  One of their WR came into this week leading D1 in receiving.  BGSU is 1-2 with losses to Tulsa and Troy both on the road.

Also a classic letdown game for Marshall after losing a heartwrencher to WVU, on the road, at MAC opponent etc, etc.

My hope is that the team comes out and shows us that this week was a fluke.

We know, based on RR's post game comments, that the boys are going to be paying for that poor performance in practice this week.

I hope they are motivated by everyone saying they are bad now and just tear BG apart.

That being said, an efficient pass-happy team is not a good thing for our defense.

But I'll go ahead and say that we are going to play much better and win easily.

Before the UMass game, I was telling myself that I would much rather be playing a MAC team because the team would be less likely to have a let down.

Well now we have that MAC team, and I say we step it up!

I watched most of the first half.  The starting QB looked sharp.  They also run quick hitting run plays opened up by the pass (sorta like UMASS).   Anyone see if he got hurt?  AS OP mentioned, some other kid played part of the second half.

I attended both the Michigan game and the Bowling Green game (where I am a student) and can honestly say UMass is better than Bowling Green. The Falcons lost their biggest offensive weapons in their quarterback Tyler Sheehan and wide reciever Freddie Barnes. While Willie Geter is no slouch at running back, their offensive line is not as impressive as the UMass one.

But we won that usually doesn't happen.I think we will play better defense this week. But we made another key play on defense when we needed it.38-10 is my early prediction,Go Michigan!!!

I'm more worried about the next game, at Indiana, a team that last year came within one (arguable) interception of beating us in Ann Arbor. I'm going to Bloomington. Will there by any MGB presence there?

What the hell is Marshall's deal?  Smashed by OSU (understandable), should've beaten WVU (shouldn't have blown their lead, but the officials really helped with that), and just got (apparently only sort of) smoked by BGSU.  What a confusing and seemingly wildly inconsistent team.

Nice to not see "Michigan upset by UMass" on the lead on ESPN.  It is also nice to feel good about a win, even if it "should have" been by more.

Howeva, it was disappointing to see that UConn lost to Temple.  I knew Temple was good, but this is making me think UConn is not nearly as good as we may have expected.

I was disappointed, but not surprised. You know, this team doesn't have a great defense, no matter the opponent. We won, as we had to do to meet everyone's preseason expectations for this team. BGSU is another win we have to have, and I think we have a good chance to get it. ND-MSU showed that the MSU game should be a real test, as we all expected. Not much has changed for me except 3-0 feels sweet. We could be 1-2 right now! Celebrate!

I think this board shows more perspective than most other spots on the tubes. Some people are always going to overreact. I wonder if those sorts of people walk around all day shouting out the names of the things they see.

It's time for this team to get real.  The offense will score there 45 + points and I think the defense will be more motivated to play better. 49-24 seems like a good predication for me.

I don't see a blowout just a win.  The defense isn't experienced and dominate enough to allow for a huge win.  I celebrated more this week than last week and will celebrate more each time we get a victory.  I'm savoring every win this year.  I love this team!

As much as I wasn't impressed by what happened yesterday with UMass, I'm still kind of relieved. It was important that Michigan gets humbled soon, and who better than UMass to do that. And as long as we didn't lose it doesn't really matter, all that matters is the W. We are not working to gain spots in the rankings to make it to number 1 yet, that we will work on in week 10, in week 3 we are working on getting W's and getting our younger kids to appreciate the enormity of college football. They are all young and need the lesson. Once Michigan started winning our fan base switched from a 7-5 mentality to a 12-0 mentality, it's cool and hopeful but still not probable. So let's hold back, aim for that 12-0 but not be disappointed with 8 and 4. as for the kids, including someone like cam gordon, I think he learnt a couple of huuuuuge lessons in the last 2 games. One is that he is the safety, and what that actually means is that he is the safety line if all else fails. And second to hold on to the bowl, if he ever gets an INT. I truly believe that if he would've taken a knee when he got the ball we would've demoralized UMass enough and finished the game in the 20 point difference area rather than the 5 point area. These kids are learning and should be so much more ready for bowling green. Go blue and good luck to all.. Go blue
