Better look at the matte helmets

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

At first I didn't like it, but once they got out of the dark room and I saw this......WOW!

Love it. The second one is my new lock screen on my iphone.

The new #2 also looks good on the sleeves from afar.

Here is two more. So glad Nike fixed the maize from whatever that crap was Adidas gave us last year. Looks great.

I'll wait on a final verdict until they are seen in person; a lot of the pics yesterday had a dark, school bus / Iowa / orange-y maize that was if anything darker than last year's dark maize. These pics you have here and the OP pic (note the clear contrast between the uniform maize and the endzone lettering maize whose color dates to the 2003 fieldturf installation and which was always too dark) are promising.

But they are a lot lighter than other stuff we've seen. So I'll wait and see.

The images yesterday were darker because they were computer generated images. I was at the MDen on Sunday and all the Nike stuff is the bright maize, not the mustard crap from last year. These photos are about as clear as it's going to get. Michigan football posted a video on their twitter account and from the looks of everything the maize on the helmets has returned to the proper lighter shade we were accustomed to before last years abomination.

I actually think this finish looks better than the glossy helmets. It somehow makes the wings pop a little more.

I also think the shoes really add something to the overall uniform.

And they defintately seem to have gotten "maize" correct.

So I've often had a off the wall question about the team-issued shoes that players wear, both basketball and football players alike (and other sports, I suppose).   If they're all wearing the same type/model of shoe, does that shoe just happen to fit every one "just right"? I'll try on 20 pairs of shoes and still be looking for that one has the right fit.  Maybe players just say screw it and wear it anyway, but I think that would lead to performace issues/blisters, etc.

@Wolverine Devotee

 Quick question...the Nike website has a picture of the AJ Trainer Low that says coming soon. Do you know if or when those will be available and the name of the shoes that some of the players and Harbaugh had on yesterday at the Jersey unveiling? They definetly weren't the AJ Trainer Low's. Thanks in advance for any insight you might have on this.

This is something I wanted them to do! I didn't know that it's called a satin finish (according to other posters) but I wanted a flat Maize and blue helmet, not the Outback bowl Matte helmet w yellow shiny stickers smh
