Bet between my co-worker and I
Today I made a bet with one of my friend/co-workers that Michigan would beat MSU this year. I am, and always have been a die hard Wolverine fanatic. (like most of us on this site, I wasn't fortunate enough to get an football scholarship offer from them) My co-worker is a MSU grad and of course a die hard Spartan fan. So we made a bet that is probably harder to swallow than losing money, mostly because our allegiances are known throughout the work place. The loser has to buy and wear the opposing teams jersey to work, every college football Saturday until the end of the regular season. Not only must the jersey be worn to work, but the loser must parade themselves throughout the common back of house areas, so that more people see this humiliating act. I fully expect to win, but that would hurt my heart and soul to have to go through that week after week. GO BLUE!!!! I need you now, more than ever!
Don't worry, I think the team will come through for you this year.
+1 for your faith and your twin span picture.
According to US News and World Report that would be about 79th.
and 222nd in the world
Let August get here.
And especially, let it be followed by September.
I like your intensity. I once made a similar bet with an MSU grad- loser had to shave his head completely.
We lost. Some of my hair never grew back. Fuck my life.
At least you aren't bitter.
Haha. Touche.
a couple of months ago. Guy showed up to play in a Michigan shirt and hat. Talked to him during the front nine and could tell he was a die hard Go Blue fan. Then my friend tells the guy to show me his tattoo. On his arm he has this big OSU tattoo. I am like WTF dude... He says he lost a double or nothing bet to an OSU guy/friend during Henne/Hart's sophmore year game and had to get the tattoo. That is a serious bet to make.... He said, after the way they played as freshmen, he thought there was no way they were going to lose again.... Admire his M go blue heart.... his smarts.... not so much....
Some things are worth losing your word for.
/not that the guy should have ever wagered a tattoo in the first place.
Yeah. Something tells me, though, that this guy (the M fan) would either be an AWESOME guy to get drunk with, or a terrifying guy to get drunk with. Or a combo of the two. At least it'd be interesting.
I would rather undergo some amateur tattoo removal via cheese grater than live with that one...
you can share your story and read others here> http://www.fmylife.com/
We made three bets for the upcoming season:
-Michigan vs. ND head-to-head
-Michigan vs. ND overall records
and my favorite of the three...
-whether or not ND plays for the National Championship this year.
Seriously.
I bet that we would win eight games as well with another co-worker. And I also bet that we would beat ND straight up. I even bet that Penn St. would come in ranked higher(numerically) than 18. I don't care that much about the money, but my pride on the other hand...
...serious stakes. You and she: similar actions...
The loser has to buy and wear the opposing teams jersey to work, every college football Saturday until the end of the regular season.
That would be an easy bet, if you happen to work a Monday-Friday job.
We work at a casino, and neither of us has Saturdays off.
Oh wait....
...but never again.
Last season, I bet a particularly smug co-worker that also happens to be an Ohio State fan, that Michigan would win X or more games.
If he lost the bet and Michigan won, he would have to sing "The Victors" while wearing a Ohio State jersey, which I would film and post on Youtube, for everyone to see.
If I lost, and Michigan won fewer games than the line we set, then I would have to wear the Tressel sweater vest for an entire work day, which would be photographed and posted on our office's wall of shame.
Well, the line we set was 5.5 games. I was feeling pretty good when Michigan was 4-0 at the start of the year. Good enough to forward him the lyrics and a recording from Michigan's glee club for reference.
At any rate, I've learned my lesson - Michigan games are stressful enough without the additional weight of a bet on top of it. Reading this was a reminder of my lesson learned.
Good luck to you in this wager and Happy 4th of July!
I'm surprised that the MSU grad wasn't cocky enough to give you a spread. I can't stand the short attention span to the series some fans have had lately. I'm about ready to punch the next guy who tells me State owns Michigan in football. You won in OT with a repeat felon. Congratulations.
He actually is the mythical "reasonable Spartan fan". He gloats, but not to much because he kows that the pendulum swing is severe on the way back. He's cool to the point that after the game last year he waited a day before calling to give me some flack.
who insists, with each jihad article, "it will take YEARS for Michigan to recover from this... maybe decades". Nay fuck-O, it will take 1 winning season
I don't consider any of these bets to be major (except for the guy whose hair never grew back - OUCH).
Talk to me when you guys start wagering a night with a coworker's wife.
I guess my pimp hand isn't strong enough to wager out my wife!
Thanks man. Most of it grew back, but not all of it. And it grew back differently. Hard to explain, but now my hair is super curly on the sides and back, and normal/straight on top. When I get my hair cut by a new person, they find it intriguing. I skip the shaved head story when explaining it to them, though.
Protect our house...The Big House! Cannot lose this year. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. Sparty must be beat!! UM 31-MSU 24.
