Best Threads for New Members to Catch Up?

Submitted by tjyoung on

Hey All,

I'm finally getting some friends into MGoBlog.  Now I'm trying to find all of the relevant content that they've missed over the passed couple of years that will make them understand where we currently stand as a program.  Obviously the Decimated Defenses (I, II, III) are crucial and so is the "When can we Fire this Guy?" post by Brian.  But I'm trying to remember all of the other greats.

So now I turn to you.  What are your favorite Diaries/Board Topics/Front Page Articles that should be required reading for all newcomers?  (Also, if you loved a topic because it was the funniest thing you've ever read...AKA Mascot Fights...and you feel it crucial that it be read, I'd love to pass it on.)

Thanks in advance for your help.

EDIT: Links appreciated!

This is a great thread.  It will probably be included in the "threads to catch up on.

To add, how about Bar locator:

For OT reading: The C-Rex Saga

Meet the (Korean) Parents...and Grandparents...and Sister (aka, the CRex saga):

And I believe our CRex is all growns up... he's getting hitched!

I figured you were, that's why i mentioned the btn website, that comment is what typically follows.

I also prefer to watch the games alone.  I don't think my girlfriend quite understands that.  Yet this season I missed the first half of the Uconn opener. (was at the GaTech game...went to a bar that did NOT have ESPN2.  Then I had to watch the game on the lawn of a frat house.  The gf and I got into a fight about it.)

One thing to know is that MGoBlog is not exclusively a sports community.  It has become an extension of some of our individual lives and therefore, takes on a meaning outside of both football and the Univerisity itself.  The flavor of this blog comes from numerous and well known contributers, but the one that has captivated many for the past 18(?) months is CRex.  Search this site for his wonderful and insightful diaries/posts of his life.

First time bloggers will get an appreciation for all that is inherent in a Michigan Man - enjoy!

Clearly this is a very useful post, one that might be useful to return to time to time. As a long time lurker who only registered this week I'm wondering if there is any way within the MGoBlog site to mark a link as a favorite.

Obviously I could create a bookmark in my browser, but am hoping there's a way to store favorite links within my account so I can log in anywhere and access them.

Apologies in advance if I'm missing the obvious.

Thanks.

And so my long journey begins.   I'll try not to feel too bad about being on this side of the velvet rope until I get there.

p.s.  You listed the rewards up to the 5,000 pts threshold and I noticed you recently arrived there.   Congrats.   Now wondering if there are other treasures beyond.   At 10K, the now verboten Shoelace t-shirt, at 50K a key to a secret Gold Club location deep beneath the Big House.   Right, right.  Patience.

Both BW3's and Nick's Sports Bar should have the Big 10 network on in Lubbuck.  Trev, loving the video of the Mascot fight.  Looks like they had some issues in the tunnel before taking the field and decided to hammer it out between the lines!  Nice....

There have been some great posts about whether Tate or Denard will get the start.  I would recomment reading all 1,365 of them.

Also, if your friends have more time, there have been really interesting posts about how many wins it wil take for RR to keep his job.  Some really detailed info from people with the inside connections.
