Best Michigan Game Experience.

Ive been to a couple games in the big house, including last years Ohio State game. This year Ive been to the UConn, BG MSU and yesterdays Iowa game. I think this was by far the best game atmosphere. To the people who were at the game was it the loudest it has ever been in that stadium? To me it was by far the loudest game Ive attended. Also how did Iowa fans get in student section? There were 5 Iowa fans sitting a couple rows behind us in the student section. Do students that sell the tickets not care who they sell them to?

Oh and also loved the reception Tate got when he went in. After his touchdown he looked like a little kid jumping up and down. Even tho he is our second quarterback and it should be that way because Denard is our qb I appreciate this guy sticking around because he could start in a lot of other schools.

A couple people yesterday suggested that the game was a poor week for recruit's visit, but I disagree. I think, come the third quarter, that's the longest duration that I've felt the Big House rocking in quite some time, it has to have left a positive impact with recruits. I had a ball, despite, you know, losing.

with this and similar posts in this thread. The atmosphere was fantastic, the OP is correct when Tate came in the place exploded. It was as loud as I've ever heard it, and I was at the '08 Wiscy game. Had we tied it up, would have been a nightmare for Iowa. We had an absolute ball.

But I could tell in the 4th quarter that things were getting loud and wild in the crowd.

BTW, make noise in your section even if no one else is. Big House crowds just need a leader. My girl and I cheer like students (and you don't have to be standing to do this, some of those older folks really can't get up every time), and by midseason now everyone in our area does the same.

Hoping for a win, but being realistic about the probability of an Iowa win and hoping that a Michigan loss would at least look respectable and promising for the future, I was very conscious of the recruits there and found myself watching through their eyes.

Gorgeous autumn day.  Elderly homecoming cheerleaders still doing backflips.  Sea of maize in the stands.  (Didn't worry too much about the Iowa fans-- from the perspective of the recruits, yellow way up there looks enough like maize.)  Concern, dejection at halftime.  But thinking of recruits on the sidelines watching the amazing comeback and the fight and enthusiasm of the players, surrounded by the jumping-up-and-screaming excitement of the fans in the stands, made me come away with a pretty good feeling.  If I were a 17/18-yr-old kid thinking of joining in, I think I'd have gotten caught up in all that, with earlier breakdowns (mostly) forgotten.  Sure, the comeback was incomplete, but it showed what the offense was capable of against a highly touted defense, even without Denard the Miraculous and Molk the Magnificent, how youngsters in the defense can make big plays (at least some of the time) even without Martin the Monstrous and with hobbled Mouton & Floyd, and how there's certainly room for some talented kids who are no doubt confident that they can make a difference.

Glad it looked like that in person too.  So thanks.

SIncerely,

Pollyanna

It was loud in the fourth Q even after some people had left. My daughter did not want to leave at the end of the game. She was already a fan, but I saw passion I had not seen before!!! She is hooked, asking when she can come back. We live in Florida. A great memory for both of us! GO BLUE!!!

It was noticeably louder - maybe because of the comeback, but also because (and this might be stretching it) the music selection was much better. It's a much bigger pump up to have Hell's Bells playing on first down to get everyone fired up as opposed to Calyptors after several good plays, which nobody actually likes... not to diss the band, but sometimes the piped in music does work better.

I love Calyptors.

I think the piped in music had very little to do with the noise - it was a great comeback and people were jacked.  Hell's Bells was ok, but I hated when they played seven nation army.  It went from constant yelling to yelling with the beat of the song, which sucked.  Otherwise, nice to have less from Special K.  Less is more.

Most students who have an opinion on the music dislike several songs the band plays. Obviously, nobody minds The Victors, Temptation, etc, but sometimes they do play stuff at odd times (i.e. I believe they played Respect after an MSU touchdown last week, weird song choices...). I don't like Seven Nation Army either, and I don't think the crowd noise was like...solely a function of the music being played, but I still think the piped in choices (Hell's Bells, Lose Yourself a couple times) were better than in the past. Maybe it contributed to the noise, maybe not.

I do know that a lot of students (especially ones who are basketball dedicated, not so much the hockey ones) wish the band would play less a role (for basketball, I don't know if that also applies to football).

at least they are not as annoying as the USC band.  They are the worst.

side note:  The band usually bores me but they were at least entertaining when they did Gaga.

The pre-game atmosphere was completely dead. You could have walked down main to the game, which was packed at 9 am last week. There were lots of empty seats early. The student section was filled going into the 2nd quarter. A lot of the game was deathly quiet. People left early...student section was maybe 3/4 full at the 10 minute mark of the 4th. It got really loud at the good comeback moments, but I wouldn't rank it anywhere on the best atmosphere rankings. It was ok.

an awesome gameday experience, of course minus the loss. The one thing I was disappointed with was the piped in music right before the team ran out. Is this really necessary? This is one of the most exciting moments in the Big House and it seemed like they cut out the music right before the team started running. I would have liked to hear it stop way before. I will say the 4th quarter was exceptionally loud which was really surprising bc of the number of people that left in the student section. I think one of the loudest moments was when Tate scored the TD, you've got to give the kid credit, he knows where the student section is and isn't afraid to try and get them involved. Compared with other games I think this was right up there during the 4th Q, its hard to tell sometimes when YOU'RE yelling too but I stopped a few times just to listen and it was loud.
