Best of MGoBlog: Comments.

Submitted by justingoblue on

The past few weeks I've been thinking about the best comments I've seen on MGoBlog. I'm sure everyone remembers a few good ones, so for a trip down memory lane that doesn't involve the three in the User Created HOF (link, link, link, all extremely awesome), why don't we link to some of our favorites and get a laugh on a random Tuesday, post-UV and pre-UFR?

My top five, in no particular order:

User MGoShoe, after being attacked in a previos thread about posting a "flamebait" article. OP was about a mugshot for another person named Demetrius Hart:

http://mgoblog.com/comment/reply/54281/1058591

User tripp welborne identity has two:

First, his response to Brian Kelly using helmet cams in practice for ND's QBs.

http://mgoblog.com/comment/reply/53299/1019896

And his method for getting StephenRKass an authentic Kovacs jersey:

http://mgoblog.com/comment/reply/59656/1251707

Obviously, maize and brew for me's sextuple post makes the cut:

And finally, from the Lloyd Brady photoshop thread, Lloyd Brady in Tiananmen Square, from cjm:

What am I missing?

Edit: Girlfriend reminded me of the time I got her to post on an account I made for her. She threatened BlueDragon with an MGoAssBeating, so that might be popular with some of you.

I don't have any favorites to contribute yet, but this is awesome for newer users who haven't seen these older posts.  Thanks JGB.

Edit:  And thanks to profitgoblue for contributing to the idea.

"I also am not afraid to sing along to Le Rouge's "Bullet Proof" with a crown on my head while freely displaying jazz hands and spinning air keyboard while dancing with my 4 year old daughter. However, I'm man enough to admit that I do this (but without the crown) sometimes at parties or get-togethers (after a few Mike's Hard Cranberry Lemonade Light on ice)" Amazing!

OR:

When I go to my gym (I work at a hospital, and I pay $2 to use our employee fitness center), I'm usually the only guy in there.  There is one TV, and they are usually watching reruns of The Gilmore Girls.  I hate to admit it, but I was dissapointed when they were watching Oprah yesterday...  So there it is: I've been watchingThe Gilmore Girls, and I've actually become interested in the storylines.

I actually have a "Revive this thread" article written for an emergency offseason dear diary. I've got a different sense of humor so none of the stuff above made it though.

I just clicked the jerseys selling like hotcakes in Ohio thread and I'm embarassing myself laughing loudly in a packed but totally silent library. That was one of the funniest things I've ever read in my life anywhere.

I almost killed that thread and put it in the Moderator Action Sticky, but then I thought about how Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.

The other hilarious part of the Jerseys in Ohio situation was that it spilled into another thread about your "favorite Michigan moment" in which I posted that my favorite moment was when Hoke changed the tide and started selling jerseys in Ohio. This prompted an absolutely hilarious string of responses from Profit and others questioning our intelligence until they finally realized what the hell was going on.

That was gold.

Someone asked why our Space Emporer didn't kick the ball to the corner of the field.  The next comment was "There are no corners in space."

FTW.

(p.s. I miss Haloscan).

appears the stories have been taken down in order to restore family harmony and protect the innocent:

I replied to Brian's email and asked him to pass the info on to you, but I guess some wires got crossed.  Sorry man, I wasn't trying to blow you off.

My gf decided things need to be kept in house and since the focus of the story is her family I figured she had the right to call for a gag order.  So sadly no Profile, no more stories.  Sorry guys.

I'm still around, just keeping a low profile, as much as acreepy ginger kid can in these parts.

I loved those stories CRex. Howeva, I can understand your girlfriend not being cool with the whole situation. Best of luck to you.

Edit: Just realized I didn't actually respond to CRex. FAIL.

my favorite day ever was after the "telling..." post in which someone had about ten different hypothetical situations, each followed up with a "this would be telling..." or "this would also be telling..."

the next month there was a "telling..." post in every thread. i can't even hear the word telling without smiling.

Favorite comments?  My favorites are the near-Dadaist arguments created when trolls get caved, leaving legitimate users seemingly tilting at windmills.

"You are illogical!  Michigan Stadium is made of bricks, not babies!"

"Star Wars? Posh.  Everyone knows that Star Trek is where it's at."

i like to keep my ID on the downlow - what if another user is unbeknowingly my wife and we get into a flamewar about infected dog butts or CRex fiance's family or whether a recruit having UM listed as the 3rd team out of a top 5 is favorable or not and then we discover who the other person was and have to get a divorce.

Is that in order to be able to go to the Notre Dame and the Ohio State game, I had to buy my wife an expensive dog for her birthday. I'm not proud of it, and I didn't look very manly walking through Petsmart looking carrying a French Bulldog, looking for the girliest collar I could find.

The CREX saga is must read for anyone that hasn't read it already. Takes too long to try to find it on my phone, but anybody who wants to find the link and post it would be doing a great thing.

But I know I stashed it away somewhere when it happened.  Maybe someone can help out.

I believe this was during the haloscan days during Coaching Search I.  Chunks the Hobo posted about a dream he had had the night before.  The dream featured Bill Martin wearing a trenchcoat and, I think, pissing on a passed out Chunks in an alley.

When I read it, I spat a mouthful of whatever I was drinking all over my laptop, which I assume is what made it so memorable.

Anyone have it?  I would love to see it again.

Should have thought of this five seconds earlier.  After posting, decided to google: "Chunks the hobo" "bill martin" pissing.  This came up: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/ot-board-really-needs-classic-threads-secti….

And the quote I was looking for:

"I woke up today face down on Keech, next to the stadium. I think I cried myself to sleep, except for the part about crying, which was actually drinking. And I dreamt that Les Miles descended from the heavens on a ray of sunlight, landing squarely on Jim Tressel like Dorothy landing on the Wicked Witch of the North. He touched my cheek and my pale, wrinkled face grew smooth, warm, and healthy again. I cast aside my bottle of Wild Irish Rose and followed Les into the bright light of future Michigan football dominance, forever and ever amen.

Then I woke up, butt cold on the pavement, and there was Bill Martin standing over me, dick hanging out of his $1000 overcoat, pissing on my head."
