Bell Tower...sold out.
this may be of some local interest
Bell Tower...sold out.
First place I looked. That's why I came to the board for back up options.
We have a block of rooms at the Fairfield Inn, and a few rooms at the Hampton Inn. Every hotel in the area is otherwise sold out (Campus Inn, Bell Tower, Sheraton, Courtyard, Fairfield, Residence Inn, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn).
Contact me through my company website and I'll be happy to get you set up: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/michigan-football-sports-power-weekends
we stay there every year and get to see the team arrive on Friday evening and leave for the buses on Saturday morning.
Residence Inn. No question. Its one of a group of hotels (most of which I have stayed in) near Victor's Way. Large rooms and good service. Try to get a room that's not part of the main building.
I've stayed here before. Great location, had no issues. Plus the rooms ARE quite large, will always have a kitchenette, and have a bed as well as a pullout sofa.
They'll also probably have a pretty decent breakfast (i.e. eggs, bacon, toast, waffles, fruit, etc) and a pretty good parking situation.
Any suggestions for Brighton, Lowell, East Lansing?? I'm from the west side of the state. Asking just in case I can't find anything in AA.
Homewood Suites in Brighton in case you cannot get closer. 20 minutes from Ann Arbor.
Only 13 miles north of the stadium. According to their web site, there are still rooms for both Friday and Saturday @ $120 per night.
It's been a while since I've stayed there, so I offer no assurances to the condition of the hotel but I'm sure it will be more than suitable as a place to crash.
Don't go to Brighton. The drive down 23 to AA is horrible. Stay in Chelsea.
You better move FAST. Most places are booked and all are basically double the normal rate and require payment in full up front.
At least a two night stay.
You're probably looking at Livonia, Dundee, or Belleville.
There's also a Sleep Inn in Milan, which is 15 minutes outside AA.
If he's gonna be piss-drunk leaving the game like he is expecting, I don't think driving to Dundee is a great idea. He might have to pony-up and dish out a few more shekels to stay in AA, but it beats the $10,000 or so you'd spend on a DUI.
No offence bro but, your brother, an alumnus, can't tell you which hotel to stay in (or should I say try to stay in, considering it's May 28th) for the game?
But, bro, my brother, an alumnus, never stayed at hotels to go to games. He has lived in Chelsea and we've never needed to stay in hotels bro. We know about the hotels but I wanted a second opinion from people more seasoned in the overnight stay, bro...
that place is awesome and they have shuttle service to and from the game.
Saty at the Embassy Hotel on 4th and Huron. You will never forget it!
Um, I think that is a homeless "hotel".....
is kind of steep at $240 a night but it's available and walkable (1.9 miles from stadium). Location is everything for me.
Good lord! I live 1.7 miles from the stadium and would let you sleep in my bed and drop you off at the gate for that! I might even throw in a dog and a beer at my tailgate.
for college football weekend hotels that are walking distance from the stadium. Iowa City downtown hotels sellout months in advance and cost $300-$400 per night with a two night minimum. I paid $240 in West Lafayette last year. College football road trips are not cheap if you want to stay in the middle of the action.
For $120 you can pitch a tent on my lawn and I'll give you bathroom priviledges.
The hotel situation in Ann Arbor is terrible. Why aren't there more options near downtown or campus? I really hate staying out by Briarwood. When I go back I want to see Ann Arbor, not some generic mall area that could be anywhere in the US.
Rather than do that, last year we rented a place on a lake just past Dexter for the Iowa game. I'd consider going that route if you can't find a place on campus.
Check on airbnb.com to see if there is anything, our family rents our vacation home on the site, it's normally pretty good for finding cheap places to crash, or enormous mansions to, well...crash
Bell Tower, right in downtown. But if you made me guess, there is no way in hell any rooms would be left. And if there are, the prices will probably be ridiculous. But its worth a shot to call them.
Weber Inn is great, but its not right in town. You'll need to drive into town or take a cab there and back. And that'll be hell before/after the game. Kensington Place is too, right off of I-94 and I'm pretty sure they shuttle people to the game. There's a Holiday Inn just off of North Campus as well, and you could take the student bus down to State St with all the drunk freshman. Hell, you could try and see if there are any rooms at the B-School. Not sure if that'd work, but its worth a shot.
Shhhh. Don't let out this secret. I've been driving in for games and parking up on Plymouth road for awhile now. Walk across the street. Jump on a bus. Ride it down to State st and enjoy the walk to the stadium.
The microtel on Plymouth! Not sure why but it seems to be my tradition.
The Dahlman Group, which owns the Bell Tower and Campus Inn, just bought the hotel on the corner of Washtenaw and Carpenter (near US 23). I think it used to be a Quality Inn? They basically redid every surface in the place and re-branded it as The Regent. We've had work visitors stay there when there were no campus area spaces (ie OSU weekend) and it got good reviews. http://www.annarborregent.com/. Better than one of the soul-less chains out by Briarwood....
Good suggestion, though that is also sold out.
In regards to those chains not having a soul, they are reputable, clean, safe and have beds. Never had a problem having stayed there many times and putting many people up there.
And is (confusingly) across the street from what is now the Comfort Inn. I had reservations at the Comfort Inn for UTL 2011 and as the room was disgusting (stains on the blanket and bedspread you didn't need a black light to see) and the hotel refused to clean the room and was otherwise sold out, we opted to drive home.
I've heard bad things
Check the hotels by Briarwood Mall on State and on Washtenaw and 23. Also check Clarion Hotel and Convention center. None of these are exactly walkable, but are a short cab ride and some might have shuttles gameday.
If you can gather up a few people, another idea is gamedayhousing.com and renting a house.
The rooms we have at the Marriott Fairfield and Hampton Inn include gameday shuttle transportation.
Anyone can feel free to contact me through my site if interested: http://www.sportspowerweekends.com/michigan-football-sports-power-weekends
Stayed at the Regents for the NE game in 2011. Not a bad place but they did have the two night min.
Gets my vote as to where I would stay if I did not live in Ann Arbor
Lamp Post Inn at Stadium & Washtenaw. Cheap and nothing fancy but worked fine for me last time I stayed in AA.
If you're for looking the best business center or nicest lobby, this isn't the place for you, but it's the most convenient hotel location in A2 and the area is much nicer than the Briarwood parking lot complex.
But I'd recommend checking craigslist first to scan the available short-term residential rental options before you go the expedia.com route. You might find something nice downtown or in a neighborhood right by the stadium.
They might also be sold out, but try Weber's Inn. If that doesn't work, there are a ton of B&B's in town that usually have vacancies.
Just make friends with some students during the game and crash out on the floor of their apartment. Problem solved.
At this late date you are going to have a tough time getting within 15 miles of Ann Arbor.
I just booked at Days Inn Ann Arbor literally 7 minutes ago for 2 rooms.
You may need to go to another overnight option...maybe rent/borrow a comfortable SUV with big back (suburban), take out back rows and sleep in the back. I have done it before and it wasn't too bad.
Find somebody near stadium that wouldn't mind you staging car overnight. Get up early, grab some coffee and breakfast and roll out. Safely! With good memories from whopping ND UTL's!
You pay gas anyways so the cost of rental is much less than trying to get that close by at this point. If you can swap with a buddy, even better.
Good luck! Go Blue!!
If you're willing to pay, but want comfort and ease, but can't find a room anywhere close, rent an RV. Sleeping space, facilities, and a place to tailgate. Parking is ridiculous ($) at Pioneer, but for a night game it'd be nice to be able to walk a couple hundred yards back to your tailgate, party all night, then crash right there. And if you're not driving really far (he said Chelsea, right?) and you're not using up a lot of gas, I imagine it's not TOO much more than the jacked up room rates for the close hotels. And you get to go to sleep UTL.
Never done it for a home game, but for the '98 Rose Bowl a bunch of college friends got one and we all crammed into it in the Rose Bowl parking lot. And the night before was a blast.
I do this every couple of years and stay mostly at Michigan League, Campus Inn, and Bell Tower. But I call in a year ahead, and even then, you cannot get a room for the top games unless you are a regular. I had a room at the Inn for the Akron game but then I got the UTL2 game tix and scrambled for the hotel and got a room at Fairfield at $240/night and I feel lucky to get that. At this late juncture, you need to pray for a cancellation or some alternate lodgings.
but I just checked their calendar for that weekend and they're booked.
There are two new hotels that have just opened near Briarwood: Hilton Garden Inn and Townplace Suites. I stayed in both for one night as part of a promotion. They're both really nice, with great service and clean/modern accommodations. I can't speak for price or availability but they're both great options.
just barely slipped in to 2 rooms at the days inn @ washtenaw and 23. Pretty much a dump, but at least its close and next to La Shish.
Victory Inn and Days Inn were the onbly 2 in ann arbor i saw with vacancies FYI
I'm selling my hotel room at the holiday inn because the military won't give me leave for the dates of the UTL game. I pre purchased Thursday Friday and Saturday night because I was gonna do the stadium and crisler tour. I'm pretty upset about it. on top of not being able to go, the flight and hotel were both non refundable. :(
Would you consider selling your tickets?
That was my number one choice and I'd given up hope
This article gives the light in which we can observe the reality. This is very nice one and gives in depth information.
The best hotels in Ann Arbor or anywhere can be found through the Local tab at google+. You can also read reviews of the hotels.
exceptionally manage and wonderful
lodgings on the planet
in any case expected its so much unreasonable
Since I am a new member and don't have 100 points yet to post my own thread, can anyone give me the up and up on games this year? My boyfriend is a hard core Michigan fan, I am indifferent with football, but a fan of another in basketball. (I have to stay incognito on here right now because he does read every now and then on here.) Anyway, I want to suprise him with a trip to The Big House since he hasn't been in a while and I think my love for it would grow too! So, what's your recommendations for games to choose from and places to stay this year? I am clueless with this conference and schedule.
Thank you thank you thank you for helping a girlfriend that's trying to be amazing to a fellow Michigan fan! :)
I can't really help you with places to stay, but I would say you should consider the Oct 11 Penn State game or the Nov. 1 Indiana game. Penn State will be the only night game on the home schedule and should have a large and vocal crowd, looking for revenge after last year's overtime loss. Indiana will be homecoming, and last year's game was a high scoring and exciting game as should this year's game.
Proficiently composed data. It will be precious to anyone who
utilizes it, together with myself. Support the
great work – for positive i will attempt additional post
Thank you, UMgradMSUdad that's a few games I was looking into! I can't wait to get the planning over with and just be there!! :)
