Haven't eaten it yet. It'll be whatever I'm eating the next time we blow out OSU.
The brioche at The French Laundry. Just amazing.
Humble brag or just brag?
No, just awesome tasting. Went during my honeymoon. We'll probably never go back, but it was a cool experience. They're actually the most approachable haute restaurant I've heard about.
Beaver. But strangely it smelled like fish.
That's not a beaver I'd be eager to eat. Beaver has to be clean.
Not even a landing strip for you?
That's not what I meant by clean, but with or without I'll take it. Just no funny smells, or bacon bits please.
But B A C O N , on the other hand...I'd eat bacon anywhere, even down there.
If you are a true blue Michigan fan you will eat John U. bacon down There.
Anything that my Grandma made that I'll sadly never experience again. She made the absolute best pies and I've never tasted anything that holds a candle to them, period. Nothing like homemade apple, lemon meringue, chocolate, blueberry, raspberry, raspberry/blueberry. I could go on and on but I'd like to stop drooling.
Had a veal chop special at Il Mulino in NYC in the 90's that I still dream about today. Was stuffed with fontina, spinach, and prosciutto. Fucking outrageous.
One of the single best bites of food I've had in my life was a foie gras brulee from Eleven Madison Park in NY.
YES!!! I remember this. Always one of the best dining experiences every time I'm there. Top notch all around.
I have driven from Lansing to Ann Arbor to have one. . .
It's so good! And way too close to my apt to resist.

The best dish? Ruffed Grouse grilled to medium rare dressed with sautéed morels and fried sage. Easy to make but getting the ingredients is a little challenging.
That sounds fucking spectacular. Morels are my favorite ingredient. Just pan roast with some butter and herbage.
I like Anthony's pizza also...some of those deep dish pies must way more than five pounds.
My fav is the carnivour (sp>).
I've travelled a lot....a couple of dinners in Northern Italy and one in Paris are memories I'd love to repeat. In the US, my favorite restaurant is the Inn at Little Washington, about an hour out of DC in the foothills of the Blueridge Mountains.
Good god how many what is your favorite or best threads can there be?
ever" thread.
Lloyd Brady photoshop thread.
She could run a smoker with the best of them. Fall off the bone ribs and a sticky, sweet bbq sauce that has a little kick.
Well played, sir!

If you are slick you can get what you need and still not
Went to an Amish market and bought a block of cheddar and a block of pepper jack, then jalepeno cheddar bread. Made grilled cheese with it. Sat around the rest of the day thinking about how amazing it was.
Either that, or the especial tacos from San Marcos in Toledo at Hill and Byrne. So simple. But so good.
if you're ever in KC
(you need a good reason to go to KC)
Unbelievable ribs.
New Orlean's BBQ shrimp at Mr. B's Bistro in New Orleans. Sweet holy God.
Hard to pick just one but the most memorable is a tie between the lobster stew at Lochober's in Boston (made famous by JFK who ordered it regularly) and the green apple sorbet at Le Bernardin in New York. I ate the sorbet when I was 20, and it tasted more like green apples than green apples do - a revelation, and one of the reasons I ended up going to cooking school and becoming a pastry chef.
Porterhouse at Chicago Cut steakhouse
I see your Chicago Cut and raise you Bavettes.
The fascination with either Chicago cut or bavettes when there is this place called gibsons
That'd be my death row pre-execution dinner right there.
I haven't had Gibson's yet, but I definitely have Bavette's above CC. It was probably the greatest meal I've ever had. The bacon plate. Oh god, the bacon plate.
at Chicago Cut is amazing!
I abhor the name Bone in Filet almost as much as I abhor filet mignon. How can you have a bone in "boneless piece of meat."?
I see your Chicago Cut Porterhouse and raise you the Delmonico at Bern's in Tampa with a garlic butter drizzle. Hands down the best steak I've ever had, and I'm fairly confident I've done my field work. Also a killer table side prepared Caesar salad.
Is one of the best meals I have ever ate. The ambiance is just as good as the food!
I'm not even a big dessert guy, especially after a big meal, but you just have to do it. Sorbet or frozen praline coffee for me.
I'm assuming you hit the dessert room as well? The macadamia nut ice cream would easily make the list of "best food I ever ate"as well. The wine barrels, the live pianist, it's truly a magnificent evening.
Buffalo Ranch McChicken at 4 AM
The meat and fixins at The Salt Lick, just outside of Austin, TX.
Oh GOD! How could I forget the Salt Lick!
Their ribs made me consider moving there.
You can get it in the airport now too... Just had some last week!
I'm not a big food person, but once got some cheese ravioli dish in a small place in Florence. I was blown away. Don't remember the name of the place.
Frita Batido's is up there as well.
What is "I'm not a big food person?" You into IV's??
But I'll play.
Roasted Amish chicken at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Just amazing.
