What are the best bars to go to in Ann Arbor ?

1. for gameday - before and after

2. Non Gameday bars ( normal settings)

also list bar specials also if you know them,or personal favorites

also list garbage bars you would send a buckeye too ( bad service/bad beer/bad food)

Never been to a bar for a home game - and hope never to be ;)

Charleys is fun for away games.  I assume the Brown Jug is similar.  Ashleys is always great no matter what.

As for non-gamedays, here's my rankings:

1. Charleys - Cheap, good specials ($4 pitchers after 10pm)

2. Grizzley Peak - If you're a mug club member, it's the cheapest craft beer in town.  If not, it's still really good.

3. Dominics - Expensive, but damn good sangria

4. Ashley's - Huge multi-tap.  A must-visit

5. Brown Jug - Decent deals depending on the day, but there's not a "Jug night" for mean.  I go there when Charley's is full.

6. ABC - Beer is probably slightly better than Grizzley Peak.  On Mondays they have $3 large beers, which is one of the best deals in town.

7. BTB Cantina - Love me some frozen margarita.

8. Cafe Habana - Love their sangria - $18 carafes are $11 after 10pm.

9. Blue Tractor - I've warmed up to it after a while.  They have some damn good meals.

10. Blue Lep - Meh.  Not many great deals.  Lone major redeeming quality is that it's on South U.

multiple great stories (not of me) start at ricks and end in the coat closet

the worse end with plan b in the morning

that being said as an ungrad who likes to have a bit of fun ... ricks is my favortie late night bar, where else can you get dancing and dollar beer night once a week

other than that im a big fan of charlies to start your night off with dinner and then your perfectly located fot the post midnight stroll to ricks cause why anyone would get to ricks before 12 is beyond me

i never did this until this summer (dumb me) so maybe they dont allow it in winter but i assume they do so...

My undergrad bar night of choice:

Dinner/pregame: start round 8 at charlies

@ 10 go to ricks to get stamped, avoid the line, etc. and then got back to charlies (or other bar if there is some special going on anywhere on south u)

go back to ricks post midnight properly smashed and ready to dance without dealing with the line

The best bar whether it be a gameday or not is the Arena IMO.  It's chill, has plenty of TVs (and they drop down the projector on gamedays), and the service/prices are the best in town.  As for where I'd send a buckeye, 5th Quarter.  They don't even stock olives behind the bar.  All you can get there is an over-priced crappy beer (Miller Lite).  The service is terrible (the waitress we had didn't even know what a Martini was.)

Old Town is always a classic, and Blue Tractor has half-price microbrew after 10PM (~2.50/pint of REALLY good beer). I like the Blue Leprechaun, especially downstairs, which is much more chill, and they've got basement-specific specials.

I don't know about gameday bars as I am always tailgating but for non game days:

Good Bars:

Conor's - downtown

Charlies

Dominick's - Sangria and Italian Sub are both amazing!

Brown Jug

Worst Bars: Rick's

I'm a huge sucker for well-poured ales and not a fan of lagers, so if your think is pitchers of Bud Light I'm not gonna be of much help.

I fell in love with Ashley's late in my college career. In more recent years, it has become a bit of a post-game tradition to go there for a flight and a plate of stilton fries. Misopogal likes to sit in the window and watch all the students go by.

Grizzly Peak is another excellent place. Their seasonal ales are on par with ABC I think, and the food is slightly better.
