Nice article on Bennie Coney, 2012 QB prospect out of Plant City, FL. He seems like a good kid who made a mistake, and he definitely seems extremely interested in Michigan. It'd be a nice pickup.

Thoughts on where he stacks up with other QB prospects like Kiel, Pike, or Mauk? It seems like his tape and recruitment aren't as impressive because of the suspension.

Sorry if it's already been posted, I didn't see it when i searched.

Coney was on the front page a few days ago, but as a montage with other recruits.

I'm not a recruiting expert, but I can tell you that Pike is a longshot and might be the best QB in the 2012 class. His offer sheet alone says that.

Edit: It was the TomVH post yesterday. Coney said the coaches want him for an official visit and have told him that the 'incident' wasn't that big of a deal.

If we're talking Facebook, you can message but not post on a wall.

Institutions should note that e-mail is not limited to a traditional e-mail service provided by an institution, Web site or Internet service provider. Therefore, it is permissible for an athletics department staff member to send electronically transmitted correspondence to a prospective student-athlete using a social networking Web site's (e.g., MySpace, Facebook) e-mail feature. All other electronically transmitted correspondence including, but not limited to, text messaging, Instant Messenger, chat rooms or message boards (e.g., a user's wall) within a social networking Web site or through other services or applications remain impermissible.

It's from Purdue, but it still sounds correct.

Talked to some Florida State guys about him... he was a very strong lean about a month or two ago, and was supposed to be committing to them pretty quickly. Not sure what happened, but I'd like to get him up to AA for a visit. Like you said, seems like a good kid, and he's got a good skillset for the new offense.
