Bengals hire someone other than Greg Jackson as DB coach

This per their Twitter account. They hired Kevin Coyle instead. The pain of losing a valuable coach to the NFL's clown car has been avoided.

rather than the other way around, because he was so excited about coaching that stable of talented new DBs bound for M. And the word will get around to the rest of the NFL so they'll leave him alone. (For a while, at least.)

Good for Michigan, and congrats to Coach Jackson for already attracting NFL interest for a position that would be a promotion. It's clear that a lot of people think he's a really good coach on the rise.

We have an amazing coaching staff top to bottom, but feel especially fortuneate we have Coach Jackson and Coach Zordich to coach the secondary. They did a great job with our secondary this first year.

Unless it were for a DC job or something higher up the totem pole, I'm not sure leaving Michigan/Harbaugh for the NFL is necessarily a promotion.

Little different because college coaches are basically coach/GM/owner. They actually have more power and responsibility than NFL head coaches. But position coaches are exactly equal in power and responsibility at each level. A guy could still prefer college, but it's a promotion. My opinion, anyways.

Given how many potential DBs are in this class, I thought retaining Jackson was very important. Plus, he's a great coach if the improvements in Stribling and Clark any indication.
