Another home visit tonight, maybe another big time commitment to follow. It sounds very promising. http://www.umhoops.com/2013/10/02/recruiting-james-blackmon-jr-nearing-decision-other-notes/
Beilein's at it again. (James Blackmon Jr)
I have no other information than what I read, but this just reads as if this could be Coach B's best class (and maybe by a good margin)... I like this
It would take a whole lot (whole lot) to be better than 2012.
Yeah, this class looks like it could be shaping up nicely, but the 2012 class had 2 five stars, a very solid 4 star and a couple likely underrated 3 stars. That's definitelyy better, barring us getting two more top 30 players in this class.
12 and 13 were off the charts. It would take Grantham AND Blackmon(or Booker) to compare.
This staff really has it going. It's the start of a program.
You should work on not thinking negative thoughts about football all the time. Football is 4-0. Things could be considerably worse.
I recall reading that Kentucky only has room for 1 of the Booker/Blackmon Jr. combo so this may be Michigan jumping on a chance to scoop up 1 of them.
And obviously don't follow hoops recruiting. An out of the blue pending decision after taking just one of his scheduled visits while scheduling an impromptu visit is the Michigan staff does not signal a pledge to Kentucky. Especially with this happening the night after a Chatman pledge and Booker coming in this weekend. Hey, Coach B! Aim that jet this way so I can tell you in person I am going to Kentucky.
It had been mentioned on Rivals that Kentucky said to Booker that they had room for both Blackmon Jr and Booker. Hope that's not the case. Guess we'll find out very soon
With the way Kentucky turns over their roster, they probably have room for everyone and anyone.
That seems weird to ask.
while I am pessiMICHtic
Kentucky has room for one more? Is that using B1G or SEC math?
I think Michigan's chances are better than some think. Said he is deciding soon. It's a two horse race.
Well I think Michigan's chances are worse than some people think.
To be shocked!!!
when Chatman chose Michigan when just about everybody had him as a Arizona lock (which is not totally true by the way).
I'd say Michigan has a better than 50/50 shot of landing Blackmon. The interest is real from Blackmon
I'd have told you we had a better shit at Blackmon and Booker than Chatman. We don't know anything.
is wrecking someone's program....and I like it.
...if it said Jeff Meyer.
Looks like a pure scorer. He might be on shorter side of the 2 guards Coach B usually gets. How tall is he?
Not super tall for a college two guard.
short SG in college. He is a good athlete and can shoot the ball well. I think with Chatman in fold, Chatman can play PG and guard taller SG while Blackmon play SG and guard PG.
With Walton and Spike already on the team, and Michigan looking in good position for a couple of top PGs in the 2015 recruiting class, I don't see Chatman playing PG for Michigan.
ever. maybe point forward on rare occasions as dictated by game plan and adjustments. dude is 2~4 only but with some pg skills and experience.
Chances to end up with Booker & Blackmon, Jr?
Not happening, we'll take one and run
Booker set his decision for Oct 31 and is visiting us officially this weekend. He also dropped interest in Florida. I think he has lost a lot of interest in M since Duke and UK offered. The writing is on the wall and on many blogs that he will end up with UK. Booker's a great player and has a higher ceiling but I like Blackmon's demeanor and smoothness. I also think he's the more consistent player and I'd be thrilled to get him.
I think it is very debatable who is better currently and has a higher ceiling between the two.
Yeah, you're right. I guess all I meant is that Booker is a bit taller and looks like the more explosive athlete. Blackmon can really fill it up and has great touch, especially finishing at the rim. I'd rather have him for those reasons. Plus all the IU schadenfraude.
calmly assertive style that I find very convincing. Booker's more tentative.
Wow and just as I was starting to feel a bit pessimistic on bball recruiting. Keep it up Beilein & Co.!
How many more spots do we have? 2?
But that's with Robinson and McGary coming back, which, like, yeah, no. So those 2.
it's zero bc of Chatman's commitment, but JB is recruiting like GRIII and McGary are declaring for the draft after this season. Technically it's zero but it's really 2.
who we have looked at as a possible backup plan, was offered today by MSU.
They come in pairs?
Blackmon is "arguably the top shooter in the entire class of 2014."
Um.... yes please.
Wow. Top shooter in America? That kid has some legit offers. Picking him up would be huge.
To have the top shooter in America in Beilein's style of offense would be crazy.
So get the subs ready is what you're saying?
Him and Stauskus together would cause a lot of issues.
Is Coach B's personal recruiting playground. It is truly amazing what this guy has done. I have all the confidence in the world in him.
There have been a bunch of Indiana posters lately. Where you all been!?!?
OP overhypes the likelihood of a commitment to M. Most sources still consider him a Kentucky lean.
how most sources have Chatman going to Arizona?

It's been real... The most important players are the ones we have. #imtalkingaboutpracticenotthegamebutpractice pic.twitter.com/30dmkunVUp (picture of jet)
Am I reading too much into that tweet, or is BA saying that we ain't getting him?
I asked myself the same question... I think it's probably not a good sign.
He is saying he is headed back to AA to invest in the most important kids ~ his players at practice. That is probably all. If it was negative I can't see BA tweeting it.
I definitely think Bacari is smart enough not to post sour grapes on twitter. Sort of a weird tweet, but I wouldn't read anything negative into it.
can't wait to see how he acts when we face him next year without Cody Zeller and Oladipo.
Even sweeter if we can swipe blackmon
but my brother in law is a coach for a big east team and he texted me last night that our message boards may "light up tonight" but didn't want to ruin the surprise.
FWIW, he told me bluiett was a ucla lock well before he committed.
Pre-submit edit, I just texted him and he said Blackmon wasn't the surprise...he says tune in tonight around 6 pm.
His decision is set for tomorrow.
Well, right or wrong, you've just made our mornings more interesting.
U O E N O
If we get Blackmon, damn. That's 3 top notch classes in a row with us looking good on quite a few 2015 prospects (plus our ability to find sleepers/be on guys before everybody else ie McGary, GRIII, Chatman etc). Michigan basketball looks here to stay (not that I doubted that before, but this looks like verification to me).
says not grantham either.
maybe izzo is retiring.
but that's not the surprise.
so that's like finding your christmas gifts beforehand only to get a better one you weren't counting on day of?
Just ask him to spoil the surprise...it's only 6 hours away anyway.
If your bro in law can't trust you with his secret for 5 hours, then you better take him off your christmas card list!!
Must be booker then. Glad that is settled.
Maybe Jalen Brunson? Although that's based on zilch other than no 2014 guys seems to fit and good-but-no-insider vibes on his recruitment. After all, his dad was an NBA player -- those guys tend to mesh with our staff. Plus, Illinois got a top 2014 PG and they were thought to be our major competition. Just to add total internet speculation to unverified speculation, though I hope it's all true.
