With tonight's victory in Madison, Beilein just needs to win in Value City Arena to have won everywhere in the Big Ten.
...says Denzel Valentine of Big Ten Tourney favorite MSU, which is 5-7 in its last 12 games. Cumong, man.
This is the year to do it!
Playing in a place called Value City Arena is so damn OSU.
IT'S A MYSTERY...
This man will help him get it done.
Yea! Beilein is a damn good coach!
No points for you!
In 2012-2013, Michigan's #1 in the nation offense scored 120.3 points per 100 possessions. The 2013-2014 team lost the national player of the year and another first round draft pick, but scores 120.6 points per 100 possessions. They got better. Incredible job, although I am at the point where I am no longer surprised.
Think this will affect recruiting? Have to believe it will only be positive for future recruits considering Michigan.
If kids couldn't see how much fun Michigan's offense is we wouldn't see players like GR3, McGary and Irvin in maize and blue.
In all fairness, offense is up 4-5 points per 100 possessions because of the rule changes this year, so compared to the rest of college basketball, Michigan is down a few points.
But, still very impressive given the loss of Burke (and Hardaway).
You can't put that cold blanket on 2014!
2014 is the year to do it. BEAT OHIO!
I am no recruiting expert, but you would have to believe that this improves recruiting, right? Beilein is showing year after year that he can adjust and have his team (and in particular his offenses) perform at an elite level. Also, the year to year development of guys like Caris and Nik has to be another signal to recruits that the guy can flat out coach. Good things are ahead as long as Beilein is around. adding to your comment, freshman know they can come in and play right away. They know they will develop and (potentially) move on to the NBA.
The last time we'd beaten Wisconsin in football/basketball in Madison prior to tonight was 2001. By comparison, the last time we've beaten Ohio in football/basketball in Columbus is 2003.
I was 8 at that time. I literally remember watching that game and going to school the next day and bragging to my osu friends. And we haven't won there since. I'd say we're due.
Friends don't let friends be OSU friends!
I stormed the field in 2003. I don't remember playing in Columbus in either sport that year.
We beat Ohio in basketball in Columbus in January of 2003.
Ah, makes sense. I forgot most of my sophomore year for some reason.
That is because the 2003 game was in Ann Arbor.
He'll take care of that Feb. 11th. Beat Ohio!
come Feb 11
I remember in Beilein's first year, they barely beat ANYONE, but near the end of the year they finally "got it" and spanked a pretty good OSU team at home. Kind of a turning point.
In that case, let the good vibrations of 2014 that we have experienced last until February 11th (and beyond, of course) in Columbus. Massey would give us a 40% probability if the game were played right now, but basketball is funny sometimes - Massey didn't like our chances against Wisconsin at home either and that turned out nicely all the same.
Way to go Beilein! Now if only some of these road win mojos could rub off on the football team for 2014
including, my heart
I think we go 0-2 vs. MSU.
I think we go 1-1 vs. OSU, each winning on each others home floor
I think we go 2-0 vs. IU.
I think we lose @ Iowa, or 1-1 vs. Iowa because this game at home is a toss-up IMO, but we'll win at least 1.
I think we lose 1 game (like @PSU last year) that will drive everyone bat shit crazy. Someone will say 'Fire Beilein' and 20 people will demand that poster is banned for life. GhostofYost will die again in his grave.
I believe that's 11-5 in conference. 24-9 overall.
Here's the kicker...I think we WIN the B1G Tournament. Low #4 seed/High #5 seed.
First off we only play OSU on the road this season and second we can beat MSU at home IMO
Appling will be exhausted and Payne will be nursing some injury. Just trying to come up with Izzos excuses now.
Erazem Lorbek went pro. It was about 10 years ago when it happened, but it created a chain reaction of events that affects MSU even today. Far worse than any other program has been hurt by early departures.
There are 18 conference games. If Michigan were to go 13-5 and win the BTT we would probably be a 2-3 seed. After going through the Big Ten conference schedule we will be battle tested though the blessing and curse of college basketball is it can be a very funny game. Just ask Kansas.
Say Value City Arena without laughing. This team is showing constant improvement, just fun to watch.
Oh we're winning there this year. Mark it down, I said it and I'll stand by it.
