Bowling Green has more B1G wins this year than Purdue in the last two years....

as they were winless in B1G in 2013.

I am sure they twisted his words, but I love it anyway. OSU should consider creating a yearly in-state rivalry game.
October 22nd, 2015 at 9:07 PM ^
They're afraid to play Cincinnati or any other in state school in basketball.
Them playing Dayton in the NCAA Tournament was a big deal. And look what happened.
I'd love for the B1G to add Cincinnati so they could have an in-state pest to deal with so they know what it feels like for some second-rate program gaining instant legitimacy by being admitted into the B1G.
If Crisler succeeded on keeping the sparties out of the conference, they'd likely be in the AAC along with Cincinnati.

Rutgers being in the B1G does give them instant legitimacy.
They're a Power 5 school now. If they weren't in the B1G, they'd be in the non-P5 AAC.

OSU will try its best to block it and succeed. /s

OSU is not "afraid" to play Cincinnati. The same way Michigan is not afraid to play Western. But Western doesn't have the attitude Michigan owes them anything, Cincinnati thinks they should be equals with OSU. And they're not. So OSU doesn't even bother playing in their little Nippert Stadium or their basketball arena.

Well that explains the lack of games with Cincy, what about the other ohio schools?
October 22nd, 2015 at 11:45 PM ^
Because why would OSU travel to Ohio? Or Kent State? It's not a smart economic move. The smaller Ohio schools come to Columbus fairly regularly. Usually one a season.

Barrett is so much better for that team.
I also couldn't agree more with your assessment of Cincinnati. When Brian Kelly left for ND the attitude around the city was that he was taking a step down.

such charm, no wonder the Cincy fans feel slighted

Next thing you know, they will be saying they are "the University of Cincinnati".
October 22nd, 2015 at 10:38 PM ^
I attended Cincinnati during the Huggins era, and we used to always complain about that. They were willing to schedule the football team when they were garbage, but no home and home bball! I think they would have been a much better add than Rutgers, competition-wise.

"Please welcolme to the stage, the head basketball coach of the University of Michigan: John Beilein"
[applause]
"Well good evening everyone. It's great to be able to speak here at the University of Toledo. Home of the best college football team in the state of Ohio"
[laughter and applause]

I'll give you the first 3
Cincy is 3-3 with wins over powerhouses Alabama A&M, a 4 pt win over 1-6 Miami OH (who lost 58-0 to an average Wisconsin team), and well, the other Miami.

Well Toledo should be undefeated by the end of the season and OSU wont be.

Not even close, but this year most likely. It's gonna be rough watching... at least there's no more Amir, Scott or Thompson one of the worst senior classes I can think of (although Thompson was somewhat entertaining to watch because of his dunks).

Beilein is my hero. He's such a golly-gee-shucks guy that he can get away with saying stuff like that.

The truth... it is out there. This looks like an event where subs would be served. Things tend to get crazy when that happens. Subs are like truth serum.
