Be positive - next week, Delaware State

Submitted by jg2112 on
5 reasons to be positive as Delaware State looms on the horizon: (1) C'mon, the fanbase was concerned Michigan would be 2-4 at this point. Michigan is 4-2 with two late losses on the road, without "the best player on our offense," with a hobbled Brandon Minor and one game without Carlos Brown. There's no shame in that and our players have played well. (2) Delaware State lost 9-7 yesterday to previously winless Bethune-Cookman. The stats for the Hornets were hideous: at home, 166 total yards, 18:49 of possession, 9 first downs. They are now 1-3. (3) Big Will Campbell played about 10 snaps on defense last night, in the first quarters. I saw him get blown up after he had BAD PAD LEVEL on one play, and he went back 6 yards, but overall he played decently. (4) On that note, let's hope that the DSU game will see heavy rotation and rest for our regular starters, and that the following players see time in anticipation of helping the rest of the year: Van Slyke, Leach, Emilien, Mike Jones (already playing on special teams), Brandon Smith (two fine KO returns last night), Teric Jones, Sagesse, and of course, Big Will Campbell. (5) On offense, let's hope the main starters have to play no more than the first half and can rest (especially Brown, Minor and Tate). I hope to see the following offensive players get lots of time next Saturday to build some depth and 2010 optimism: Roundtree, Stokes, MIKE COX, Shaw, Omameh, Khoury, Barnum, Kelvin Grady, and fanbase favorite Elliott Mealer. Final extra note: I consider it a positive that the team is able to deal with Cissoko's problems, and suspend the kid at a position of severe depth problems, and it is able to adapt, adjust and almost defeat the nation's No. 12 team on the road, at night, in a homecoming game. Hold your heads up - this team is playing well and on the right track. There's no reason it cannot get to 8 wins the way it's playing. GO BLUE.

It stinks to turn the ball over 5 times on the road and then lose in the last minute. But, you are right. I fully believe that next year we will be in the Rose Bowl hunt come the Ohio State game. This team can and will only get better.

I agree with you all the way...You didn't mention Justin Turner as a guy you would like to see playing. Just oversight or intentional? His redshirt is burned due to special teams play, correct?

Its the only game I can make this year (still working out the details to possibly go to OSU). So I'm pretty excited for it. Hopefully we don't have a let down or play down to their level. I'd like to see a ton of DSU 3 and outs and some good scoring drives getting everyone involved. Can't wait!

Turner will play if one or two CB's go down...that's what the depth chart says...I don't think we can protect that redshirt in that scenario (it would be unfair to the seniors.) It looks like Lewan and Washington will not have any issues though (Lewan has been snapping with the twos in practice - but Omahmeh and Molk (for PSU) apparently are going to be there.)

I'm also going to the game. I'd like to see a lot of DRob in there, as well. He needs some playing time and this week will be a great opportunity, especially if Tate needs to heal up. I think they'll play just as hard as in any other game. RR will make sure of it.

The man in the Snuggie appears to possess serious mental deficiencies. Any chance J.T. Floyd gets in the game? Did Brent Musberger refer to Brandon Minor as "Vincent" last night? I hope I misheard him. *400th point, yay.

a big first half.....and a healthy dose of the Coner or Sheridan in the second. My gut says Robinson will get a chance to throw some passes. Would also like to see alot of the younger guys play who are on the fringes of the depth chart and just haven't seen time because of the game circumstances. This is a test this week to see if this coaching staff can keep the kids focused and intense.........this is right about the time the Toledo game happened last year. I know Del State isn't even close to Toledo, but they need to play well and not just mail it in......then we will know the expectations RR and staff have laid down are starting to set in.

I want to see Denard run the show, not because I don't want tate in, nor do i think Denard is better, but because a seasoned backup would be great down the stretch and he needs some work in a low-risk environment.
