BCS/Bowl Game Selection Shows Open Thread

Submitted by M-Wolverine on

It's early, but not sure when the site is going to be up or not, so while there's a window, I'm getting it in. If the hits crash it, could be a really short open thread.  But discuss the Michigan Bowl (which will probably be known for sure before the show...if it's not already), and any othre bowl games on ESPN's coverage tonight, starting about an hour away.  (By then the 504 errors will hopefully be done).

I'm sorry, but I can't agree with this. Even if we're in a bcs bowl.

Money is seriously ruining this sport. Two teams not even in their conference championships are in bcs bowl games (Alabama and Michigan), and another team which got blown out in their conference championship is in (Va Tech).

If you don't agree with Alabama over Ok State, which I don't, then you shouldn't agree with UM over msu or Va Tech over TCU.

I don't think that we deserve a BCS bowl personally, but I'll take it.  Michigan State deserves it over us.  Oklahoma State deserves a chance over an overrated Alabama team who hasn't played anybody.  VT doesn't deserve a bid either, but I'm not sold on TCU getting the bid (though I don't know who'd I put in the bowls).

Money is the name of the game and if you can bring it, you'll get there somehow.  Fuck the SEC, let's just give them another bias national championship.  If I was Oklahoma State and we beat Stanford, I'd fucking count that as a championship season.  Fuck the BCS.

hold on... MSU isn't a COnference champion, and they have a worse record than UoM.  You argue only  teams in their conference championships should play, look at the big east!  there is a reason the BCS has AQ for proven conferences and harder prerequisites for for crap confereces.  case in point look at Houston, they were ranked 6th until they got blown up by a decent team. Now they dont even qualify.  say what you want about the BCS but they cater towards proven conferences for a good reason.

I don't know why anyone would complain about KState. No good wins, crushed in both of their loses, 2nd most popular team in Kansas. Why would any money hungry bowl execs pick them again?

Desmond:  Herbie, I'll see your Ohio State helmet with buckeye stickers in the background, and raise you a Michigan helmet with wolverine stickers.

Hopefully the Georgia receiving corps washes the Vaseline off their hands by then.....followed  by another Cousins comment regarding how Michigan sat on their sofas at the New Orleans Hilton watching their game.

OK Sparty, here's your chance to put up or shut up.  Michigan State - Georgia is a premire matchup.  Both teams were participants in their conference championship games.  If you want to be precieved as a top team, stop whining and go toe to toe with a top SEC team.

Very interesting B1G matchups on New Years Day:

- Nebraska - South Carolina,

- Michigan State - Georgia,

- Ohio State - Florida

I think the B1G can compete straight up in all of these if the teams focus on the business at hand, and not palm trees and Disney World.

My remote control trigger finger will be itchy.  I'll watch all three at the same time.
