BBrown: Vic Enwere Update

Submitted by Brandon Brown on

The Michigan coaches stopped in to visit 2014 RB Vic Enwere last Friday while make their rounds on the recruiting trail. Enwere is a bruising back out of Texas, currently committed to Cal.

Enwere admitted to me that he has absolutely thought about a potential flip to Michigan but only because he has to think about every possible option. He said the visit went well with the coaches but at this time nothing has really changed. He is still "softly" committed to Cal but is weighing his Michigan options.

I dug a little bit and he said he couldn't tell me if he was going to flip or not because he doesn't plan on letting anyone know and he himself didn't even know yet.

At this point he wasn't even sure if it was going to come down to just Cal and Michigan. One thing he is sure of is that he will make his final decision on Signing Day. I'm not sure if the Michigan coaches want to wait until the very last minute or not so I definitely plan on staying in touch with Vic to see how aggressively they pursue him.

The 2014 RB situation has been a bit peculiar and right now a solution doesn't seem to be close to happening even if it does end up being Enwere.

Thanks again, Brandon.

Some of the interviews I've seen with Vic make me think he'd like that TCU offer to come through. If it does, I believe he is a Horned Frog.

That's Brandon. UM seems to want RB late in this recruiting cycle. Possibly an indication of some unknown factor.....or out of the desire to get Justice Hayes to compete as a slot WR.

If UM strikes out on RBs in 2014, how fast do they turn up the heat on getting another RB in the 2015 class?

Any color on what happened to his in home visit? it was scheduled for Saturday but then the day before, Enwere tweeted that Coach Jackson cancelled the day before with no reason being given.

This is pure speculation on my part, but I think Michigan is going to try to get in the running for another midwest running back (CJ Hilliard, Chris James, Justin Jackson, Jeff Jones, someone) before all is said and done.

I'd be OK with Hilliard.  He seems like a pretty good back, probably won't be "the guy" but we probably won't need him to be.  He could play a different role than most of the guys we've brought in (he's smaller and speedier, and might be a good 3rd down back) and it sure won't hurt with his brother.

Seems hit n miss...with a lot of emphasis on the miss...waiting until signing day to even make a verbal seems also a mistake for a player...can a school get impatient and verbal with another player who's willing to commit beforehand, leaving the later signer suddenly out in the cold? I realize this is tangential but who is left to target? McDowell? E. Smith and Lattimore? (Are those guys anywhere in the picture after ohio's meltdown and possible DC change) I really hope dantonio doesn't turn Ballage into a war horse we can't stop...

What's up with Lattimore and Smith? Any chance we steal Smith away if Ohio fills up? Seems like we could use some safety depth. Too many unknowns opposite Wilson next year.

I think that would be almost as big as getting Hand but I don't think it's possible.

It is a little weird how quiet those 2 have been though. They seemed to like their visit to Ann Arbor but didn't really want to admit it.

As far as RB recruiting, are there any reports how Drake Johnson is coming along or if Rawls had surgery?

Green and Smith are going to get plenty of reps in the Spring. They don't even have enough RB's for a Spring Game.
