BBrown: Vic Enwere Update
The Michigan coaches stopped in to visit 2014 RB Vic Enwere last Friday while make their rounds on the recruiting trail. Enwere is a bruising back out of Texas, currently committed to Cal.
Enwere admitted to me that he has absolutely thought about a potential flip to Michigan but only because he has to think about every possible option. He said the visit went well with the coaches but at this time nothing has really changed. He is still "softly" committed to Cal but is weighing his Michigan options.
I dug a little bit and he said he couldn't tell me if he was going to flip or not because he doesn't plan on letting anyone know and he himself didn't even know yet.
At this point he wasn't even sure if it was going to come down to just Cal and Michigan. One thing he is sure of is that he will make his final decision on Signing Day. I'm not sure if the Michigan coaches want to wait until the very last minute or not so I definitely plan on staying in touch with Vic to see how aggressively they pursue him.
The 2014 RB situation has been a bit peculiar and right now a solution doesn't seem to be close to happening even if it does end up being Enwere.

Some of the interviews I've seen with Vic make me think he'd like that TCU offer to come through. If it does, I believe he is a Horned Frog.

I honestly didn't know about TCU but I got the feeling he wasn't really digging Cal or Michigan a ton. Kind of strange that he's even still committed. He's never been very excited about being committed to Cal when I've asked him about it.

Thanks BB. Does Vic have a visit scheduled to Michigan?

December 13th.

I think I remeber seeing something about the fact that he hasn't even visited Cal yet

Or at least that's the last I heard

If UM strikes out on RBs in 2014, how fast do they turn up the heat on getting another RB in the 2015 class?

Just take a look at the RD depth chart if we move Hayes to slot.
In 2015, we will have 0 seniors, 3 Juniors (Green, Smith, Johnson), no Redshirt Fresh/Sophmores.

Are you assuming Shallman isn't a RB?
December 9th, 2013 at 8:24 PM ^
I'm assuming Shallman isn't a running back.
Also, he was supposedly practicing this year at H-back.
December 9th, 2013 at 8:54 PM ^
I think that's a better place for him, and I'm excited to see that part of our offense put in once we have guys to fill that role. Both he and Khalid Hill could be exciting in a year or two.
December 9th, 2013 at 7:30 PM ^
I have read some thing about Hayes moving to the slot as well.
Based on the numbers, I think a 2nd RB in 2015 is a guarantee if we strike out in 2014.

Kalen Ballage.
Not really sure what happened to him after he had to cancel his visit due to wild fires in Colorado.

probably down to MSU and Boise.

Here was Vic's part:
"Yes."
"No."
"Maybe."

This is pure speculation on my part, but I think Michigan is going to try to get in the running for another midwest running back (CJ Hilliard, Chris James, Justin Jackson, Jeff Jones, someone) before all is said and done.
December 9th, 2013 at 8:51 PM ^
I'd be OK with Hilliard. He seems like a pretty good back, probably won't be "the guy" but we probably won't need him to be. He could play a different role than most of the guys we've brought in (he's smaller and speedier, and might be a good 3rd down back) and it sure won't hurt with his brother.

I'd really like Jones, but of all the B1G teams to snatch a touted recruit from, I wouldn't want to do that to Minnesota. They're so happy now!

We must crush their spirit!

Willie Henry and Dennis Norfleet disagree with you. And Caris Levert too.

He tweeted or instagrammed a picture of him with Hoke recently.

I think that would be almost as big as getting Hand but I don't think it's possible.
It is a little weird how quiet those 2 have been though. They seemed to like their visit to Ann Arbor but didn't really want to admit it.
As far as RB recruiting, are there any reports how Drake Johnson is coming along or if Rawls had surgery?
Green and Smith are going to get plenty of reps in the Spring. They don't even have enough RB's for a Spring Game.
December 10th, 2013 at 5:38 AM ^
They never have enough anything for a spring game. That's not a surprise.

I find it funny how Michigan fans have written off McDowell because "if he wanted to commit to Michigan he would have by now" yet all Michigan fans still expect Lattimore and Smith to commit to OSU, disregarding the same logic.
