BBrown: Quick Update On Chris Green
Chris Green isn't one of the big-time names we hear a lot about from the 2015 class but he is being very closely monitored by the coaching staff.
Coach Hecklinski was in Central Catholic High School in Toledo last week to speak to the stocky inside linebacker about taking a trip to Ann Arbor within the next few weeks for a game. With such a short drive Green fully intends to make that trip happen. If he decides to attend a game it would be his first time taking in a contest at The Big House. Green has been on campus before however, for a four-day camp where he said he really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot from the coaching staff.
For a junior in high school Green has a respectable offer list already consisting of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Penn State, Toledo, and Western Michigan. Penn State has an early lead for him and unfortunately for Michigan he was in attendance last Saturday for "The Debacle". He left Happy Valley saying he was really impressed and absolutely loved the vibe. However he did say that Michigan would be right up there if he enjoys his visit and receives an offer.
On film Green reminds me of James Ross. He has a very similar build at 6'1", 225 lbs. and that height stigma might be why he doesn't have more big boy offers. He has a nose for the ball, comes downhill and fills gaps, and makes a big impact on ball carriers when he gets to them. He will be a name to watch, especially if he heads to Ann Arbor within the next few weeks.

I don't really see the Ross/Green comparison. Green looks like an undersized MIKE type of linebacker.

Undersized compared to whom? The "textbook" MIKE?
Because Ross is 6'1, 223# and Morgan is 6'1, 227#.

The textbook MIKE. Morgan is also undersized.

Fair enough. I was just wondering what you were comparing him to when calling him small.
But in all fairness, the game is starting to move away from those 6'2, 250lb linebackers. With ultra fast TEs and RBs that go out into routes, LBs are required to drop into coverage more. LBs are starting to look more like a big RB.

The coaches recruited Furbush to play ILB and he is 6-4, 230.

I'm never one to get too hung up on prototypical measurements. If a kid can play, he can play. James Ross was listed at 6'0", 208 lbs. on his Rivals page and he seems to be doing just fine. I'm not sure if Green will get offered but if he doesn't I hope it's not just because he's not 6'4".

I guess everyone's entitled to his own opinion. I just don't really see any similarities. The build is different, James Ross is extremely quick at diagnosing plays (more so than Green), and Ross has very good lateral speed (a weakness for Green, in my opinion). That would be like saying LaTerryal Savoy reminded me of David Terrell just because they were both listed around 6'3", 210 lbs.

Maybe in that picture with the way he is standing it's not a mirror image, but the fact is they are about the same height and weight. I also think in watching Green's junior film that he diagnoses plays very well and brings the wood a lot like Ross. His foot speed may or may not be on the same level but I don't think the comparison is far off and definitely the closest to any linebacker on Michigan's roster right now.

I can assure you that his size is not an issue. I have watched him play a lot against D1 caliber competition, and this kid is beyond good. ESPN has him ranked #2 in country for ILB for a reason, and anyone who has seen him play knows why. He is being recruited heavy by MSU, OSU, and many other big time programs. Michigan would be lucky to get him, but are working against the clock since PSU made a huge impression on him for sure.

Well, 247 Sports ranks him as the #15 ILB and Rivals doesn't rank him at all (meaning he's outside the top 250). I think you're cherry picking your analysis, for whatever reason.

Scout.com has him at #5, ESPN has him at #2 and the Rivals composite has him at #6, That is not cherry picking it is published. Rivals Josh Helmholt has contacted Green on multiple occasions and has expressed in writing how good he is. I guess you are a better judge of talent than PSU coaches who have already offered him a scholarship, as well as the others. Not a competition here bro, just the facts. Watch his film before you cast judgement.

I am befuddled at this kid's offer list. I would have expected more from him. Granted, he doesn't play for a "premier" Ohio HS but TCC is still a big school that is very competitive.
The kid can play. Send him an offer.

Personally, I think he plays like a defensive end. I don't think he has the lateral quickness to play MIKE or WILL at a big-time program. Maybe an ILB in a 3-4 type of defense. His body type looks like a short, stout middle linebacker, but he plays like a future DE.

You won't find me beating the drum for McCray or Burrows as prospects, either. Besides, I'm not saying he can't have an impact in high school. What I'm saying is that he does not project to be a James Ross-like player in college, in my opinion.

TCC is one of the premier schools for football in Ohio. They have about 10 kids getting D1 looks, and are throttling much larger high schools. Google Chris Green, the kid has a pretty cool story behind him.

Magnus hates having his hair pulled!

Michigan better start to give him the attention that MSU, OSU and PSU are giving him. He is a stud, and definetely the real deal.
