BBrown: Quick Update With Alex Malzone

Submitted by Brandon Brown on

2015 QB Alex Malzone spoke with Coach Borges for about 10 minutes on Wednesday to talk about his recruitment moving forward and possible visits.

While the chat was brief Alex came away feeling pretty good about their conversation.

It went great. He said he watched my highlight tape today and was very impressed. He said that I'm definitely on their radar. They aren't ready to offer anyone yet though, they are still waiting on that.

Being an in-state kid Alex has had a lot of interaction with the coaching staff, specifically Coach Borges.

I talked to him a lot at camp and at the Minnesota game so he and I always have good conversations.

Alex will now focus on the final stretch of his season and he said he definitely should be in attendance for the Ohio State game, and he is now thinking he will try to make it for the Nebraska game as well.

It sounds like Malzone is having a pretty good year.  It will be interesting to see how the coaches play this with so many good QB prospects out there.  IMO can't go wrong taking a lifelong MIchigan fan if the skillset fits what the coaches want to do.

These updates always appreciated.

If you can get a kid out of your backyard that meets all the criteria you're looking for physically, you have to add an extra .1, possibly .2 to his guru rating merely because he understands what all out-of=staters will have to learn.

Seems like we hang all our hopes on getting one of these "elite" qbs from Cali. The fact that the first guy offered might commit seems like a dangerous chess match, at least on how it affects the future of the team long term. A secondary worry is that by abandoning ( to some extent) Michigan recruiting it gives msu a large advantage. Dantonio has proven what he can do when we allow open season on instate recruiting... Overall I like the direction...but QB worries me more than the others. Perhaps i should calm down and expect a scholarshipped group of 4 going forward...
