We can hope!! Come on home to AA Da'Shawn!
BBrown: Da'Shawn Hand Close-To-Empty Update
We can absolutely use studs on the defensive side of the ball, these last few commits could be huge for us. I think the last few drawn out prospects that seemed blue but went elsewhere have made me cautious. Really looking forward to this hopeful commitment!
Could you elaborate on his opinion of Jabrill Peppers, Brandon?
That all sounds good to me. He could be a big piece to making our front four pretty awesome.
Come on down Da'Shawn. You will play next Sept. in the Big House.
Give that professor a raise!!
This is happening!
You're a plant and you survive on photosynthesis.
Chlorophyll? More like borophyll!
"I'm not trying to get anyone's hopes up, but we're totally getting Da'Shawn Hand you guys!"
Glad I wasn't the only one who immediately picked up on that.
it ain't over yet. Let's see what happens when Deshawn sees the national championship trophies in Saban's office—that'll be a true test of his interest in academics at Michigan.
Oh come on. These guys with unorthodox names can be hard to spell. I had to look at the thread title when I was typing my post. I have a similar problem with Jabrill and Jabreel (Peppers and Black). Hell, even guys like Derick Green can be tough because there are a handful of ways people spell Derick. Not a huge deal, IMO.
Yeah, like "Derrick."
OK, it seems I inadvertently made my own point.
If you're Brandon or Ace or any of the writers here, you need to spell them right. If you're posting a comment, misspelling the harders one isn't a huge deal. If someone's first or last name is the completely obvious spelling though (like Ty Isaac), you don't really have an excuse.
past, present, and future who may read this board: we humbly apologize for any and all misspelled names. It's not personal...sometimes we're just not sure and don't take the time to look it up. Pathetic maybe, but we've got your backs regardless.
We hearby apologize for are shortcomings.
Not to pile on, but it's Jibreel Black. I agree that it isn't a big deal, though.
Anyway, I sure hope Da'Shawn picks Michigan. I feel strangely invested in his recruiting decision after watching so many episodes of First and 17.
And Brown, talk to Coach Dede! Let him know that he can't have his star player at Bama or Florida making wins harder for his alma mater Auburn. Just kiddin'.
I never thought I'd live to see the day when WolvinLA2 got piled on by Spunky Brewster.
Hey, I wasn't piling on. I like all of WolvinLA2's comments.
[Drafts a thread/invite for WolvinLA2 to join me in singing "The Victors" and "Kumbaya" while holding hands, and skipping through the meadow or golf course]
Edit: Naked Bootlegger, you're invited, too. Please wear a bathrobe, at least.
I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby, all through the night
(Not really. I don't swing that way, NTTAWWT, unless you're a chick. But I'm married, so you'd have to be my wife with a secret MGoBlog account. In which case stop bitching at me for being on MGoBlog so much).
That is too funny! I don't even know how to respond to Boyz II Men... "Although we've come to the end of the road. Still, I can't let you go..."
And I am a girl, but your loved ones don't have to worry about our duets since I'm saving myself for Luke Perry or Shoelace. Speaking of DXR, I need to head over to the MGoAuction and make sure no one has outbid me on that 1 oz. jar of Denard's sweat.
Boy, you're nice. I was kidding about that whole married thing - what are you doing later. You never know, I might be Luke Perry.
"I'll Make Love To You." Good song.
is a hard one. It took a few checks for me to get it right.
Also, Shawn -Sean can be confusing. I also can't spell Micheal well. It never looks right.
Deshawn Deshone Desean Dick Shawn Wallace Shawn whatever his first name is, I hope he gets his degree from Michigan and plays some football while he's at it.
My name is Dylan (before it was popular) so I grew up with it always pronounced Die-lan (even though Bob Dylan had been around for forever). Even 90210 couldn't help me. I also get spellings of Dillon, Dilion, Dillan. Trust me, not a big deal.
I think he has been to Alabama twice now.
He has only been to Alabama once, in the summer of 2012 for a camp. This weekend will be his second visit to Alabama and the Florida visit on November 9th will be his first. He has never visited the University of Florida.
The fact that he is rescheduling his Alabama-LSU visit instead of his date to take the SATs speaks to this, I think. A guy who is planning to "play football, not school" (to paraphrase the OSU guy) would not pass up the opportunity to be lavished with attention during the biggest game of the year. I'm sure there are other dates to take the SATs -- coming from somebody who vaguely remembers having a choice of dates a few years ago.
He clearly values education to a decent extent.
I almost want see him commit elsewhere just see what kind of crap storm will blow through here...
Well that's dumb.
it happens plenty with other recruits. It would be nice to not have it happen for once.
if you really want to see it happen go back and look at the posts when other recruits spurned us like treadwell
The storm from Penn State wasn't enough?
Wow, that's pretty fucking stupid.
My hopes are up
I'm 100% confident he will pick Michigan.
If we get some of these guys to finish out the class our defense is going to be nasty very shortly. Hand (maybe), McDowell (maybe), Mone, Lawrence. That is an upper tier SEC D Line which many people believe is the main position group responsible for the league's dominance. If things close for this class like they could I really think the ceiling could be pretty high. This program has the history, facilities, talent, town, academics, and coaching (for the most part), and also a kick-butt basketball program.
I'm still excited for the future as long as we can get at least 8 this year (hopefully much more).
But I doubt there would be a crap storm. If he decides to go elsewhere, where would the vitriol be aimed? Who is going to change their signature to Fire Hoke cuz he aint recruitn?
C'mon, you know that other message boards will be full of people claiming that Hoke isn't a closer, and some of that will spill over onto MGoBlog. If we lose to MSU, some knucklehead somewhere will register FireHoke.com, if it hasn't been done it already.
Been registered since Feb. 2011. If we lose to MSU, maybe an actual webpage will go up there instead of "To change this page, upload your website into the public_html directory".
EEEEE! You don't have to count, that's five. All the E's.
This would be so huge for us. To add to the class with Peppers already on board... well, eeeee.
except your second mention of 'eeeee' is unacceptable...MUST BE ALL CAPS LIKE THE FIRST ONE!
Come to Michigan!
So... BKFinest it?
I miss that guy.
that we should have an MGoWiki to explain stuff like this to people who weren't around back then and to reminisce. The Hall of Fame does some of this, but misses out on some good stuff.
"...so you're saying there's a chance! I read ya."
He essentially BKFinest it....what could go wrong?
It sounds like things might be looking up for Michigan when it comes to Hand, so hopefully November 14th brings a storm of the awesome variety here. The kind, for example, where I struggle to get on the site due to the 17 "Hello" threads posted from someone's phone with 100 comments each in the first 30 seconds. Those are nice storms as people are happy then.
it'll look pretty awesome to have the #1 and #2 guys in the rivals100. First time that would ever happen I believe
But, the moment they step on campus, they're going to lose 4 tents from their 40 times :/
4 tents, said 40 times will have nowhere to sleep. They'll be fatigued, and the times will drop even further.
They must really be into camping .
So you figure the 2 youts will lose 4 tents? I totally agree wit you, Vinny.
Now you just made think of grits and Pontiac Thunderbirds.
losing 4 tents would seem to make them faster? Sounds like a great problem
it's not over till it's over. I was around for the Shaun Alexander recruitment. . . .I will be happy 11/15, for good news about the Hand recruitment but the very least, I will be deer hunting. . . .
I'll be rooting for the deer.
Mr. Hand, I hope you go blue.
Not to start an argument, but by rooting for the deer to not be shot, you're essentially rooting for him to starve to death or be bit by a car. A bullet is a much better way to go out. It's more humane than the way most animals are killed for food. And they're delicious.
Delicous for sure but your logic hurts my head.
I can root for someone to not commit suicide without essentially rooting for them to die of cancer.... later..... Right?
Not at all, as it's still unlikely that said person would die of cancer (unless this person is in the terminal stages of cancer).
Nearly all deer (at least in Michigan) who aren't killed by hunters die by way of starvation or by a car. Starvation is obviously a slow, painful death, and many of the deer hit by cars aren't killed instantly, but run off to the woods to die slowly. Not only this, but often times humans are injured or killed when they hit deer.
Shooting a deer allows the deer a humane death without any injury to humans (or to their automobiles).
My point isn't that we all die of cancer. I'm pointing out that although most other outcomes besides suicide involve a more drawn out, more painful death than suicide, that doesn't makesuicide a better option. The key piece of information your argument ignores is that we get to live more when we don't commit suicide.
This is why rooting for the deer to not get shot is not "essentially the same as rooting for the deer to get hit by a car."
It is rooting for the deer to live longer and meet some unspecified end later (which may still be getting shot.)
That unspecified end may be more painful, but that's not the only consideration.
You're missing his point. Obviously human beings can die in multiple ways besides suicide and cancer. That's not the case with deer. It's usually hunting, hit by car, or starvation. Very few deer just die of old age. His point is that being shot is a much more humane way to go. I get you're trying to say that there is a 4th option, just keep living, but keep in mind the average Michigan deer only lives 6-8 years, were not exactly cutting a long life short.
As someone who saw a young family become fatherless because of a one car accident caused by a deer, I'm more than willing to cut a deer's life a couple months short if it means a human isn't senselessly killed.
Hand and McDowell are a package deal and both will end up at either Michigan or Alabama.
That's... an unlikely theory.
Thanks Coach - he seems like a very thoughtful young man and I think Michigan has a lot to offer him, and obviously vice versa.
I've asked this before, but can someone on staff do an interview with Professor Rosentraub? (Like the Heiko-Borges interview, which was awesome.) I would really be interested in what Professor Needs a Raise thinks about college football and the kids in the program.
Eh, I'm being cautiously optimistic. Despite Brandon's obvious optimism, I'll believe it when I see it. Da'Shawn has played things so close to the chest, I still won't be completely surprised if he doesn't pick Michigan.
I'm traveling the road of cautious optimism. I like what I've heard so far, but who knows what'll happen when he visits Bama. But it helps to have one of the best D. coordinators/recruiters in America on your side.
Hopefully he picks Michigan, but if he doesn't, I think we'll survive.
I am more than optimistic that young Mr. Hand will be Blue on November 14.
Couple that with how Da'Shawn spoke to me and everyone else about Michigan.....it's gonna happen.
November 14th could/should be a great day for Michigan fans in regards to Da'Shawn Hand's commitment.
I know I haven't been here that long but I was attempting some of the MGoBloggish sarcastic, subtle, not-funny-but-funny, type of humor.
Apparently I suck at it. Work in progress.
I say we blame Borges, anyone knows it will be all his fault. Just like he caused the AHA website to crash yesterday, way to go Al.
Quick question, would it be a recruiting violation if "professor needs a raise" reached out to Hand himself?
I'm guessing it would be a secondary violation.
Da'Shawn hand on the 14th and PS4 on the 15th...That would work out just dandy.
Either way, getting PS4 on November 14 is gonna be awesome.
So, potentially, our line could be Marshall, McDowell, Mone, Hand.
For one recruiting class. That's seriously nuts. Probably the best DL haul M has ever had in one class, and though I'm sure it's not the best ever, it's one of the top in the last decade or so.
Previous class has Hurst, Poggi, and Charlton. Add in the 2012 guys and it's an absolute embarrassment of riches.
...seemed like such a long time ago...and now Nov 14 is just around the corner. After watching the IU game I can't wait for Michigan to get some elite defensive players on campus!
Thank You Bradon for your posts. It's great to have you on this blog.
*Brandon Mea Culpa
the influence of GM in recruiting these two. They may speak of excellence in education but ultimately their decision will be who will best develop them for entry into the NFL. GM certainly has the credentials to sell that facet of their decision making. Hoke, not so sure other than being a nice guy and lives up to his promises something Saban has not and will not do.
BTW, U. of Florida has an excellent reputation for academics.
Hand, provided he puts in the work, has a chance to come in and be our best threat off the edge since B. Graham. Go Blue Hand!
