Recently followed on Twitter by Coach Nussmeier and Coach Singletary, Brian Lewerke is a 3-star quarterback out of Arizona.

Brian was visited last week by Coach Ferrigno and already has a relationship formed with Coach Nussmeier from his time at Alabama.

The recruting process is in the early stages for Lewerke and Michigan as he said Coach Ferrigno basically just came by to get his contact information and let him know that they will be keeping an eye on him moving forward.

At this point Lewerke said he definitely likes Michigan and the football program but its early and he is still learning about them.

This is a first for me but Lewerke told me that he actually did a report on the state of Michigan when he was in 3rd grade and one of the things he learned a lot about was the University of Michigan and the football history and he became a fan then.

I don't quite think a 3rd grade report will be what sways Lewerke to choose Michigan, but the fact is that he's been a fan of Michigan since then because of it. He is simply another name to watch at this point among the other QB's that have been recently discussed.

That uniform is so bad, I almost didn't watch the film.  But I'm glad I did.

Quick release, good vision, and decent athleticism are on display, and an uncanny ability to throw on the run.  He can really drop the intermediate-deep stuff right where he wants to.

I would not be unhappy to see an offer go to this prospect.

Brandon, wayyyy off topic here(didnt want to create a new thread), but is there any chance at all, any names floating around that the coaches are looking to pull in any more players for this class. Last minute snake oil? I know Mcdowell is still a shot, but any others?

btw Lewerke looks good

Until Sam Webb starts talking about a possibility of that happening I'd say there isn't anything brewing. Of all the dudes that cover recruiting he's got the biggest inside track so if he starts talking about it, that's when I'd start digging.

But unofficially, yeah, all the time, at least in NY. I'm a teacher and I text my students every so often during the school day, coordinating practice times, changing or answering homework questions, reminding them to bring in permission slips, etc. They also text me occasionally, and each other constantly, during the day. I'd say about half the coaches in my school use texting during the school day (not every day, but it's not uncommon either). Our official school policy is that kids can have cell phones at school but not in class. In practice, the kids have them all the time.

There are often tweets about our class during or immediately after class. I don't mind as long as it doesn't interrupt learning, which it doesn't. In fact, it's often hilarious and fun.

Not quite the same thing, but texting is a huge boon when you're trying to coordinate a team during a tournament or gameday and they're all spread out across a campus or athletic complex.

It's a whole new world!

MaxPreps had his junior stats up.

Lewerke was 167-316 for 2,780 yards, racking up 33 passing TDs and 9 INTs. They list a QB rating of 106, which I have to think is the result of the NFL calculation. The NCAA rating on that - just doing mental math - would he 150-ish.

Brandon, is the UM staff looking at QB Kyler Murray from Allen High School in Allen, TX?  I watched this kid play a few times and he is on another level.   I understand Hoke can't recruit every kid in the country but this dude is an elite talent.

They should probably avoid walking underneath all those bird nests on their way to the field. Of course it could deter the other team from wanting to tackle them. What a crappy strategy.
