BBall scholarship breakdown
Listening to Sam break down the I. Sykes/T. Ziegler debate about wether to take both or bank the scholarship, I don't see much of a debate.
Looking at the big men we have a chance with next year and the plethora of 6' 5"ish guys on the roster I can't see anyway Beilien boxes himself into no wiggle room next year.
As far as I can tell from Mich hoops we have 2 schollies available and no seniors, the only way to open room if a top pick wanted to come would be to take LLP's if possible, I'm not sure of his 4th/5th yr status based on his transfer
if you don't take both. If you lose out on Trey, Sykes could have found a different place by then... and then you've got nothing for this year... decisions decisions.
I guess it all rests on how much Sykes wants to be here and if he's willing to be the guy that has to wait on another guy. I wouldn't do that.. I'd feel disrespected. I'm also a giant cry baby though.
Sykes is still somewhat early in the process, so I don't believe he is pressing for an offer at this point. Trey will decide in a couple weeks and things look good for Michigan.
"Most likely scenario: Cronin and Manny are both gone, Michigan takes however many of Zeigler and Sykes they can land, and has two scholarships available for 2011. For next season, those scholarships will go to a couple walkons."

Basically, you can take both for 10-11 and still have 1 spot left. That would fill up 11-12 though, with Brundidge coming on board.

Brundige is already signed so if you take both you have no scholarships available for Amir Williams/Plumlee...these guys have to be our top priority...6'5" guys we have.
I think you have to leave a scholarship open for the '11 class to go after Amir Williams.
Also, did I hear correctly that Zeigler is likely to announce by mid-April?
that's been talked about is April 14th for Trey's decision. I could be wrong though.. ask my wife. According to her I'm always wrong.
Ben Cronin- HIP-HIP-HOO... ewww-nevermind.
We need all the help we can get now.
Let's get them all.
(seems to work for Alabama football...)
You just hard sell Zeigler on his Very Good to Excellent interests in recruiting. Talk at a minimum of 15-30 minutes while recruiting other players. Offer the scholarship early or immediately after his recruiting visit. Use negative recruitment sparingly. Then, if he commits elsewhere, go back to your last saved week of recruiting and try again. So simple!
Next year we will have no seniors and 3 juniors (LLP, Stu, Novak). And our sophs will include a returning starter (Morris) and a guy that didn't play all too much especially in conference play (Vogrich). Talk about a young team. Hopefully our non-conference schedule reflects this. I think next year we need to worry about returning a winning atmosphere rather than a schedule for rpi purposes.
