Basketball - This year's backup's better than......

As it's been a slow Friday, and with the wait until 8PM Saturday for some UM Hoops, I thought I'd try to start a discussion on this year's bball team, specifically the talent coming off the bench.

In one of the earlier games this year, there was a point in the game when four bench players where in the game. I was struck by how talented and deep this year's team was, and it got me thinking about how these bench players would match up against some of the starters from Michigan teams during the Elerbe and Amaker years (and even Beilein's first team).  Granted this year's bench isn't as strong now that Stauskas in in the starting line-up, but LeVerts emergance has mitigated that some.

So here's the question, how do you think McGary, Horford, Spike, LeVert, Vogrich(formerly Stauskas),  etc. would fair against some of the UM teams of the  past 15 years?

They'd lose to every team with point guards Burke, Morris, or Horton.

Is how they stack up with the rest of the Big Tennnnns. MSU for instance has less depth, IMO, than M's

With a spartan co-worker about how their starting 5 would do against our freshmen. There was some debate, and I don't know how it would go...But it would be fun to find out.

I cheered that team on relentlessly as a sophomore with my student season tix, only to get steamrolled by Fab 5 ticket demand in '91 and lost all my "seniority" when they enacted open seating first-come, first-serve.   I'm still bitter, 'cuz I CHEERED FOR RICH MCIVER G'DAMMIT, AND I DESERVED BETTER!!!

/end rant

p.s. OP is right on...our current deep team depth is pretty damned good.

EDIT:  This is kind of like the previous post's Fab 5 without the Fab 5.

Trade Vogrich for Stauskas (which was true up until about 2 weeks ago) and you've got a very good team that could have taken the top 5 of a few of our teams in the past 10 or so years.
