Basketball Offer Day

Submitted by tbeindit on

So today is the "official" offering day of Michigan basketball.  UMHoops will have coverage all morning and you can keep up with the live updates here:

Should be a very exciting day for basketball fans for sure.  We had two commits on this day last year and I definitely think we could get a commitment from Devin Booker in the near future (offered this morning already).

No commits yet? What gives?

JB needs to sit in a recruiting seminar taught by Hoke.

And don't worry Mark Dantonio.....this seminar will strictly be about Michigan recruiting so you won't have to interrupt anything......chances are you will anyway though.

Anybody see [Dantonio]'s latest comments about recruiting? They're gold.

Something along the lines of, we recruit for need and that "It's not a race".

LMAO, like Hoke is pressuring kids to commit early...Yeah we fill needs too Mark. It's just that we fill them with 4 star top 100 talent and you fill them with 2 star kids with nothing but MAC offers.

I don't think anyone commits today, as Booker recently said he wanted to wait to make his decision, however, I can't seem to find the article on UMHoops. At this point we definitely are the team to beat.

I agree.  I don't think Booker will commit today, but I do think we are the clear leader for him and that he will commit sooner rather than later.  He should be a fantastic player at Michigan. Just amazing to think about the depth Beilein will have built when the 2014 class arrives on campus

has been amazing.  We just offered two top 50 kids and are in a very strong position with both (particularly Booker), and no one is treating that like a weird thing.

Agree 100%.  To be clear we are in much stronger position for Booker (his clear leader at this point) than we are KBD (clearly not his leader, but either his 2nd or 3rd choice at this point).

I will say this is not surprising mainly because of the 2012 class, where we signed a top 5 guy that slipped (McGary) and a borderline top-100 guy that became a 5 star (GR III).  So we can sign the high profile guys as well as the guys who become high(er) profile guys.  Beilein is my hero.

Chris Balas of Rivals posted something after my initial reply saying the KBD is going to decide sooner rather than later, believes it to be a Purdue vs. Michigan race.  However, reading between the lines you can garner the idea that they believe Purdue has the edge (however slight or big).

...UMHoops.com interview, Booker does not intend to make a quick decision.

Do you have a timeframe for when you’d like to make a decision? I don’t have a timeframe yet, but my parents and I have talked about taking time to sit down and discuss it. Just what’s going to affect the college decision, and try to narrow down the schools. All these schools are kind of a hassle. So, we’ll narrow it down and go from there.

Where does Michigan rank among the schools who have offered you or otherwise contacted you? Michigan is definitely a top runner. I don’t know about an exact rank, but they’re definitely going to be there throughout the whole recruiting process. They’re up there.

Can you see yourself committing to a school this summer? This summer? I don’t think so. I’m just going to enjoy the experience.

What are you looking for in a school? Obviously just lifetime opportunities that the school provides, and academics, obviously that’s key. In terms of how I fit in the program, what kids they already have there, who’ll be there when I’m going there, whether or not there are kids leaving for the NBA, stuff like that.
