Someone needs to check Trey Burke's birth certificate. No way that kid is a freshman. His maturity will be a big part of the reason behind any success this team has this year.

How can watching that not make you excited about the future of M basketball? The only negative thing is I don't see Bacari being an assistant for very much longer.

I'm all for keeping what is said in the lockerroom in the lockerroom.
Not a big fan of watching kids get called out on TV. Kinda stuff that can lead to hard feelings.
With that said, Beilein's supergenius was certainly on display. My head was spinning, and it gives me a whole new appreciation of how intelligent Trey Burke must be to have absorbed all that is Beilein speak on the fly. That's an amazing kid.

I know it sucks to get called out, but that is something that just goes with being a D1 athlete at a school like Michigan.

Did anyone else think as I did that other coaches could be learning things about our offense with that video. And that we should not be showing that on tv for others to see?

Coaches share information, speak at clinics and understand not much is 'private' anymore. Especially when most are making DVD's detailing their offense/defensive philosophies. I'm pretty sure most coaches know his offense, just as he knows others. There is always a counter move to any defense.
All one has to do is watch game film to understand play sets and tendencies and coaches don't lack information in this regard.

Belien didn't reveal anything of note. Basically told the team where the openings would be based on how Bradley was defending and what cuts to make to take advantage of it.

Exactly. There wasn't anything secret going on there, but I noticed the camera wouldn't show the whiteboard, I wonder if that's part of BTNs policy

I liked the student assistant whose job it was to erase the whiteboard and redraw the hoop over and over. That's something for the resume.....

There's gotta be an easier way for Beilein to draw up plays and notes right? We can't get a smart board up there or something? The lighting up there was poor too. We have all this technology with the new Crisler Center, but Beilein's drawing up what we need to do on poorly lit white board? C'mon DB! Something must be done!

I'm sure the lighting was fine. You can never tell how good lighting actually is when you're watching TV or looking at a photograph.
And as someone who uses a smartboard everyday and also coaches basketball, the old school whiteboard is all I need or would ever want.

It seemed like something was wrong with Tim or something happened earlier in the week. He would've been the last person that I would pick on the team to be an "energy drainer", but Beilein kind of called him out twice about it.

I do like that everyone said "yes sir" in response to Beilein. Not sure why...possibly just because it seems rare to hear guys roughly my age say yes sir or yas ma'am to anyone, especially guys who are treated like superstars a lot of the time

I've been watching Michigan hoops since the 70s and not since Johnny Orr have we had a coach with the quality of Beilein. Bill Frieder was a recruiting dynamo but not so much on actual coaching. Steve Fisher seemed great at the time but had a fatally blind eye. Beileincan do it all. Plus there is something about him that is so likable. He exudes excellence without a trace of arrogance. I can't imagine him doing anything that isn't in the best interest of his players (although you can never know for sure), or tolerating anything unethical. And he has an unusual level of respect from his peers.
I would have to say that with Hoke and Beilein, football and hoops have the best coaching combo since Bo and Orr. They have yet to prove that over time on the field and court (although Beilein is getting close). But with these guys we seem to be on the right track.
