Baseball: We Beat Ball State

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
I sent in a moderated front page post for my weekend preview, but it has temporarily lost out to some other event that supposedly happened today. I'm on the road, so I can't get the original post up as a diary yet. The good news is we beat Ball State 12-8 despite committing 3 errors. Offense looked good, with every starter except Lorenz getting at least one hit. The errors cost Miller a chance for the win, as BSU scored 4 unearned against him, and Matt Gerbe couldn't get an out in the 6th innings, allowing the game to be tied at 8. Sinnery would get the win with 4 innings of work. Something tells me that makes him unavailable for the rest of the weekend-maybe just an inning or two on Sunday if we're desperate.

Lipscomb has a real good Ace who beat the Illini today, but after that their pitching depth isn't the strongest. They lost 5 or 6 starters out of their lineup from last year and replaced them with lots of Juco transfers. They're still finding their feel for the team.
