Baseball: More Tourney Projections

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

The CCB released their tourney projection with Michigan headed to Louisville:

Louisville Regional

1. Louisville (7)
2. Vanderbilt
3. Michigan *
4. Toledo *

This is a pretty tough region, and I'm sure Vandy would love to get some payback on Alan Oaks in the opening round. For those that need a reminder,

The Commodores aren't nearly that good this year, but rather in the 30s of the RPI, well above Michigan. Michigan has played both Toledo and Louisville, beating Toledo handily at home and losing 1-0 to Louisville against a Thomas Loshe. This was at the Big Ten / Big East Tournament, the first weekend after losing Ryan LaMarre. Our offense was atrocious, but then again, Louisville wasn't hitting quite as well then either. A rematch would be awesome.

To get to that though, we've got to win the Big Ten Tournament. Minnesota preview/WMU wrap due out tomorrow.

He converted back to being a pitcher. He had a few solid seasons in the outfield, then developed a case of mono, IIRC, causing him to miss the first half of last season. His bat was never overpowering, hitting for something like .275 with a couple homers, with most of his success only as a pinch hitter.

With the low offensive output, Maloney tried him back in the bullpen, especially with Michigan's struggles last year. He became more valuable as pitcher. He made a few starts to finish last season, and after an off season focusing just on his pitching, he became Michigan's ace this year. He started the year VERY good. Lately, hit and miss.
