Baseball: Lorenzo Elion Commits To Michigan

Submitted by Sac Fly on

From the Simeon program in Chicago, infielder Lorenzo Elion has given a verbal to join the program in 2016.

Elion can play 2nd, short and can pitch. He's tall and lanky, so I could see him outgrowing the position before getting to Michigan and heading to the outfield.

PBR had a writeup from about two months ago:

Athletic 6-foot frame with plenty of room for physical development. Defensively showed athletic actions, moves fluidly and consistently fields the ball in rhythm. Shows present arm strength with athletic arm action. Offensively, hits from balanced setup with quiet mechanics. Utilizes slight leg lift to create rhythm and timing. Demonstrates advanced bat speed with some length in swing.

PBR just bumped him up in their Illinois rankings, from #199 in the state to #69, so he's a prospect on the rise.

He's Michigan's seventh commitment for 2016.

If the tweet had emojis, you must edit it in plain text and delete the emojis since emojis don't render here in code.

won't take the field for Michigan until the 2017 season, it's a good thing to see that "prospects on the rise" are heading to Ann Arbor.  Our baseball program is heading in the right direction---Go Blue!

Well...Well...Well

FYI...Simeon is a pretty storied program in basketball -- both Derrick Rose and Jabari Parker went there, as did fformer OL Chris Bryant and another former target in Jordan Diamond....good to see their baseball program producing top notch guys as well

They consistently churn out good baseball players, like Corey Ray who plays for Louisville. He is also Chris "Krit" Bryant's younger cousin. Great get Bakich!
