Baseball Hello: Will Tribucher

Submitted by Raoul on

Not to be left out of the commit frenzy, the Michigan baseball staff scored again on Thursday, landing another West Coast 2015 prospect: Will Tribucher, a 6-3, 190-lb. left-handed pitcher attending San Clemente H.S. He's the second player from California to commit to the Wolverines in as many weeks, following in the footsteps of Troy Miller (see Hello post), a right-handed pitcher out of Soquel H.S. in Soquel, California. Both Tribucher and Miller were invited to participate in the prestigious Area Code Games, being held this week in Long Beach with about 240 invitees from around the country. A third 2015 commit for U-M, Charlie Donovan, a shortstop from the Chicago area, was also selected to participate.

Unfortunately, there's little scouting info out there on Tribucher. Perhaps something will come up this week based on his play at the Area Code Games. I did find some vidoes, and I'll post one of them in a reply.

He has a pretty effortless delivery...the ball jumps out of his hand. Some guys have to but maximum effort into throwing hard, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Tribucher. He fights his front side a little bit, but I'm sure the coaching staff will be able to clean that up. Pretty sharp curve ball when he stays on top, but will need to throw it with much more consistency in the future. Looks like he threw a few really good two-seamers.

  • Ben Keizer – 6-2 LHP, #9 in MI, #98 overall (Hello post)
  • Troy Miller – 6-3 RHP (from CA) (Hello post)
  • Ako Thomas – 5-7 2B/MIF, #19 in IL, #86 overall (Hello post)

*Hello post is Ace's from the front page. David will be on a football scholarship, but he evidently also plans to play baseball at Michigan.

can we please stop pretending guys aren't scouted in California. if there is a service that scouts the Midwest there sure as heck is one that scouts California which has much better talent.

I've never said players in California aren't scouted. Perfect Game, for example, covers the entire nation. They have a page on Tribucher, which currently does not have a scouting report on him. They might add one following the Area Code Games.

Even Prep Baseball Report does some national coverage; they recently hired Nathan Rode away from Baseball America to be their national supervisor. He's been providing reports this week from the Area Code Games.

But specifically with regard to Tribucher, I searched the Internet and found little information on him. If you know of a source with a scouting report on him, please post it.

Man people are fussy about California and baseball. He is documented but he's not covered in PG or the other major baseball scouting services. I follow a lot of the PG scouts and a bunch are at the area code game this week so I wouldn't be shocked to see a report come out on him. watching video, he's lanky with a lot of arm whip. Can't tell exact speed but ball jumps out of his hand. Wouldn't be shocked if he was 84-88. The "highlight" video I watched showed off a nice 2 o'clock to 8 o'clock curve that was back dooring right handers. Hard to really say much off a kid because all I could watch was what he wanted to show everyone. He does play in California which is a Mecca for youth baseball. He looks like he could benefit in a college weight program. Just my take away but seems like a good get. Getting into California seems to be focus for this staff which is a really good idea.
