Baseball Hello: Jack Bredeson
Michigan baseball added to its 2015 class today, with the commitment of Jack Bredeson, a 6-6, 235-pound right-handed pitcher out of Arrowhead H.S. in Hartland, Wisconsin. Prep Baseball Report has him ranked #19 in Wisconsin and #222 overall. Here's their scouting report on him from earlier this year:
6-foot-6, 235-pound, strong framed pitcher with a four pitch mix. Has a tall and fall delivery with choppy rhythm, clean lines, and above average effort. Arm works short and quick from over the top. Fastball worked downhill for strikes. Was 83-86 mph with arm side run and heavy finish. Throws a slider with strong shape and bite, 71 mph. Had feel for the changeup, throwing it with fastball arm speed, 75-77 mph with slight sinking action. Curveball was 68-69 mph with 11/5 shape.
He's also the older brother of Ben Bredeson, a Michigan football offensive tackle target in the class of 2016.
Jack Bredeson is also the high school teammate of Dominic Clementi, a left-handed pitcher who committed to Michigan for the 2016 class in January (see Hello post).
EDIT: Perfect Game has Bredeson with a grade of 9, which translates to "potential top 10 round draft pick and/or highest-level college prospect." In their scouting report from February of this year, they call him a "raw arm strength prospect with the potential to improve."
Here's Michigan's 2015 class as it currently stands:
- Nick Azar – 6-3 SS, #37 in MI, unranked overall (Hello post)
- Jack Bredeson – 6-6 RHP, #19 in WI, #222 overall
- Andrew David – 5-10 SS, unranked (Hello post*)
- Charlie Donovan – 5-11 SS, #1 in IL, #6 overall (Hello post)
- Ben Keizer – 6-2 LHP, #9 in MI, #98 overall (Hello post)
- Ako Thomas – 5-7 2B/MIF, #19 in IL, #86 overall (Hello post)
*Hello post is Ace's from the front page. David will be on a football scholarship, but he evidently also plans to play baseball at Michigan.
He sounds like a great addition to the team! Thanks for the tidbit about his brother, too. It would be really nice to get them both.
For those in Missouri:
Proud to say I have committed to play baseball at the University of Michigan! Thanks to all those who have helped me along the way #goblue

Among the first to congratulate him? Who else—
@Jack_Bredeson28 congrats bro, join the family

Coincidence that he committed on a day when his brother was on campus? Maybe Ben called him and was like, "Bro, you need to commit to Michigan like now."
BBQ with his brother.
Jack Bredeson retweeted this from Malzone. Not positive, but I think Jack's at the far left in the baseball shirt.

BBW leftovers? That sounds like a party.
They ate them all, it was great.
gains momentum!!!
Smell of BBQ wafted over to baseball diamond... works every time.

His brother (Ben Bredeson) has always been assumed to have Wisconsin as his leader up to now since home state and Wisconsin's recent tradition of having great OL's. What i found interesting is I was unaware that Wisconsin didnt have a baseball program at all so it wasnt even an option to stay in state. Hopefully Jack having to leave the state helps alot with Ben.
He's currently #45 in the 247 composite.
Raoul..Great info on Andrew David. I was unaware he was going to play baseball also. Appreciate your work updating us on the baseball recruits. Whenever I see a baseball thread, I know it must have been started by you. Sort of like whenever i see a thread on new socks for the football team, I know it must be Wolverine Devotee!
The best part about this, as others have already alluded to, is that recruits in other sports for which the BBQ is not specifically aimed still commit on the weekend of the BBQ. That is what you call recruiting momentum, I would think. That being said, welcome to Ann Arbor, Jack Bredeson!
I guess if baseball doesn't work out he can play left tackle
went on to play QB. Most had him projected to a much different position too.
Wouldn't mind another Navarre, with the caveat that he isn't forced to player earlier than he should've like Navarre did with Henson's injury and then departure.
I would guess this makes us a favorite for "Big Ben". Nice score.
At 6'6", 235, he should be able to add some mph to that fastball and some more bite to his breaking pitches with some college level coaching and S&C. Very exciting prospect
Bredeson commits.
Help me to understand please.
He negs everything that isn't about football or Star Wars. Just ignore him. He'll get himself banned again, come up with a new name, rinse, reapeat.
It really is about football since its the BBQ and since the commit is fricking the brother of one of the best 2016 tackles in the USA. Seems kinda to bad because he has much too add when he wants to.
The thing is, negging posts like this one aren't what gets him banned. But I completely agree that people should just ignore him. It gets tiresome having threads like this one cluttered with discussions about him. There's no point in discussing it when nothing's going to be done about it. All it does is give him more attention.
Jack Bredeson plays travel ball for the GRB Rays. His team was in Ann Arbor earlier this month for the University of Michigan Elite Invitational, played at Ray Fisher Stadium. On their way to winning the championship, Bredeson tossed a no-hitter in the semifinal, with his fastball hitting 90 that day.

Hopefully this has a positive impact on his brother's decision.
