Baseball Falls To Maryland

Submitted by Sac Fly on

After yesterday's series opener against Maryland was postponed, Michigan's first Big Ten game at Wilpon this season ended with a 3-1 loss.

For Michigan, their closer Jacob Cronenworth got the start and had a solid outing allowing 3 hits, walking 1 and striking out 9. Unfortunately that walk advanced a runner to 2nd base who would score on a single, and one of the three hits was a home run.

Maryland starter Mike Shawaryn went 7 1/3, with 5 hits, 1 walk and 7 strikeouts, but finished with an erratic 8th allowing a leadoff double, a single and two hit batters.

That gave the Wolverines their best chance to make it a game, but Bruder popped out with the bases loaded.

They fall to 0-4 in the Big Ten.

You can listen to the games on youtube. WCBN is doing both Baseball and Softball DHs today.

Already in the 5th of the 2nd game. Michigan 6-0 lead.

Nutof: 5 innings, 2 hits. 5 SO's. 0 ER

Cronenworth: 2 run homerun, RBI triple.

Jacobson just singled in Jusick, then Cronenworth hit the triple to score Lugbauer and White. Still no outs in the inning.
