Oh wow, check out all the fans at that game.  Such a great decision to permanantly move the tourney to Ohio State's campus, regardless of the regular season champion.

I know that it would be logistically tough to do it last minute, but they should just play at the regular season champion, unless the champion is Minnesota.  No reason to play in the Metrodome.

I would prefer to see a rotation at facilities that are capable and maybe build some local interest in weak programs.  Of course, I'm biased because PSU is only a little an hour from my home and I know that if it is awarded to the B10 champion they'll never get it.

I don't think you pull Oaks at all. He's already in the 4th. At this time I think it is best to let him go the whole game, try to save the complete bullpen. If Mich wins and goes to teh Semi's with a full rested bullpen and only 1 pitcher used (Oaks) that sets up well for the weekend. Especially if IU finds away to knock of Minnesota!

That's always a tough call.  I know some of the top teams do that in tournament play, but I don't know if our staff is deep enough to try a trick like that.

Oaks has thrown (guessing) about 50-60 pitches through 4.  If we pull him now, he might be available for the Sunday "if necessary" game.  The problem is that somebody has to pitch the last 5 innings today, and not give up 6 runs to Iowa.  Anybody good enough to do that is probably good enough to want to save for a possible relief appearance tomorrow.  We could throw 5 pitchers an inning each, but even then you are taking some chances.  I don't like it--our bullpen isn't good enough or deep enough to pull it off.

after four i say you  let him go all the way  ...

but after 2 he could start again ... id like to think our bullpen can beat iowa's when we already have a 6 run lead and their two best relivers went yesterday already

That game has gone well. The best part, I'm sitting at Buffalo Wild Wings at 4pm local time, and the guy next to me seems a bit squirrely. Sometime around the 4th inning, he falls asleep where he's sitting. The staff wakes him up, he wants his bill. He pays his bill, begins to nod off again. Staff wakes him up, asks him if he needs a cab. He wants his bill. They notify him he paid his bill.

So the 4 of us at the bar and the bartendress all convince him to take a cab. We talk with him while he waits. He gets up, falls into a table. He goes to the bathroom, but misses the door, ends up outside. Cab pulls in right as this happens. They can't take him in his state either. The guy refuses the cab anyway, gets into his car. He put the keys into the ignition as he passes out in the driver seat, car off.

Cops show up at this point, tapping on his passenger window. Guy doesn't move. Guy eventually wakes up, startled by the cop in the window. Guy gets out for the car, cop administers a pen test. Guy's head, shoulders, and body go back and forth with the pen. The whole BWW staff and the 10 or so patrons all laugh from inside.

Guy is flipped around onto the hood, cuffed, and removed. DWI because keys were in the ignition. Ouch.

But at least he didn't drive away.

Feel bad for that guy. He will get the DUI or DWI as there was intent to drive - keys in the ignition. If you're ever in that situation, put your keys in the glove box, or better yet the trunk - somewhere where it is impossible for you to reach the keys....

OK - good game to start the BTT! We hit the ball well, and basically only used Oaks from the mound. Tomorrow's game will be huge - win that and it's one win from the NCAAs!

I feel bad, but at the same time I don't. He refused the cab ride that BWW was going to pay for. If he'd kept his cool, he'd been home without having to wake up in the drunk tank.

But I agree. Throw the keys away. The public intoxication is >> DUI if you have to take one or the other.

Great game for Michigan.  Any idea who starts tomorrow - likely against the Gophers?  Didn't Sinnery pitch well against them?  I think he started that game we won against them.  I'm going to guess it's either Sinnery, Brosnahan or Matt Miller (who has pitched extremely well lately).

AA.com and DetNews both report that it's Brosnahan. Against Minnesota, Brosnahan didn't actually start. Katzman had the ball in game one, the only weekend Oaks wasn't our Friday guy. In 3.2 innings of relief on Sunday, Brosnahan struck out 4 and gave up just one hit, walking none to earn the win.

Against Indiana, Bobby went 7 innings to give up 4 runs on 10 hits, 3 walks, and 7 Ks. He earned the win there, too.

Solid against both. He should be alright tomorrow. Not sure what to expect until after tonight's game. Here's hoping it's a 32-30 game settled in 23 innings.
