Baseball: 1st place all to ourselves?

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Michigan took care of business today behind a great game by Bobby Brosnahan to win 6-4 in another high pressure finish with 3 Michigan pitchers combining to close the door in the 9th.

But good news elsewhere:

Ohio State falls to Northwestern 8-2!
Michigan State evens the series with Iowa with a huge route.
Minnesota is up 10-2 over Purdue after a 10 run 2nd inning.
Illinois leads 9-6 over Penn State.

If those last two hold, Michigan will be alone in 1st place with a 2-0 record in Big Ten play. 8 teams will be tied at 1-1. Indiana will sit in last with an 0-2 record.

Woo!

Good deal.

I used to go to games When I was kid and I loved it but I moved away I couldn't ever find any info on them. Its been a blessing being able to read all the quality information that you offer(ed) over at varsity blue and now here.

Also, I'd like to echo Fat Mike: your coverage of M baseball is fantastic. It was great to be able to follow your coverage on twitter of yesterday's crazy game. Thanks for all your efforts to keep all of us current!

Damn Michigan State! They called a rain delay in the bottom of the 8th inning, up 16-2. They will finish the game tomorrow before they play game 3.

So technically, we'll only be tied with Iowa who remains at 1-0 until that game finishes. I swear the Spartans did this just to keep us out of sole possession of 1st place until tomorrow. Well, not really, but dammit.
