Bartelstein's Blog Update

So it's been a pretty slow day here on the blog, and has been evident in the past couple posts.  Hopefully I'm not adding to anyone's boredom, but I just had a chance to read Josh Bartelstein's blog update on MGoBlue, I strongly encourage you guys to read it.

The reason I felt like sharing this is because I know the team has had hit a rough patch in the last couple of games, and we have felt like taking it out on both players and coaches.  This update, though, has helped me understand that this is an incredibly tough conference to compete in, let alone expect a conference championship from.  The fact that the players understand how much is expected from them, how disappointing the last couple have been for us fans, too, and their optimism about the rest of the season and their full potential just gives me another reason to believe in their abilities to damage in March.  So, again, just a little something on a late Saturday evening to cure a little boredom, hopefully... and I'm looking forward to the whoopin tomorrow! GO BLUE!!!

2013 will be the year.

didn't really expect much from it, but man I've got to admit, this was a fantastic read.

2013 will be the year.

I too believe that grinding it out in this conference this year is going to benefit us come march. As much as I'd like to win the conference tourney I think we would be physically drained and under perform in the NCAA tourney. I don't know that we have enough experience to win it all but I think our youth, in a way, is a positive. Hopefully we get on a roll here soon and it leads us into tourney time in style

Having read this, I totally understand Bartelstein's key word of "perspective", because his is an excellent, well-considered one. Very good entry, and thanks for sharing this.

Nice read.  Honestly, without Wisconsin's miracle half court shot to tie the game and force OT things would not be so dire.  I'm still a little bit not over that loss.  Going 2-2 in that stretch and sitting at 9-3 in the conference would've been infinitely better.

But alas, here we are.

If dire equates to a #2 seed in the NCAA's the I'll take dire every year.



I think people are overreacting. Every team has a point in the season where they struggle a bit and in the Big 10 everyone is going to lose some road games.

Bartelstein might not ever put in important minutes during games, but he definitely has a leadership role in his future.  The TV piece on CBS sports seemed to like him as the "go to guy" or team spokesman.  

I wouldn't be surprised to see him be a GA next year.
