Great article. I completely agree that both belong in the Hall of Fame. I moved to Cincy 17 years ago so have had the privilege of seeing both men play. You couldn't ask for 2 finer players at their position.

Thanks for the link. I grew up a Reds fan, and remember Larkin in the 1990 World Series. I also was in Michigan in both A2 and Ypsilanti during the Tiger's World Series run (I still wish the '84 series would have matched the Tigers and Cubs), and Trammell is one of the most clutch players I've ever seen play.

Despite the near certainty that it now appears Trammell won't make it, Baseball Prospectus has done a series of articles that actually quantify that if if Trammell were inducted today he'd be something like the 5th best SS in the hall - he's more than deserving. The theory is that the modern era of Arod, Hanley, Tejada, Nomar etc., changed the perception of the postion so that now, modern writers may be looking for a guy who was hitting 30 HR's a year. In the '80's, Jeter would be considered a "power-hitting" SS.
